went almost 2 weeks without a post? (1) Which radio station will be the next to change formats? (1a) To what? (2) FM station to go Hispanic? (2a) FM Country station to change formats? (3) Next company now in the local market to leave? (3a) Next company NOT now in the market to enter? (4) Who will be the next Nashville radio personality (do those still exist?) to move to a larger market? (4a) Radio personality to move from a smaller (or larger) market to N-town?

The reason that no one has posted anything on the Nashville Radio Board is because NOTHING is going on in Nashville radio at the moment. Radio in Nashville is pretty much stagnent at the moment. As far as which radio station will flip format and to what, what previously HOT FORMAT that is dying in other markets that isn't available in Nashville? What ever that format is, that will be the next format to come to Nashville. It just seems that any format is dying in other market, that when that Format comes to Nashville, with Jack-FM being the LONE exception!

Dean, not sure if I can help you or not. The most controversial item that I have for you right now is this:

It seems that someone at the (still?) "all-new" Hippie Radio has particularly thin skin. Post even constructive criticism on their Facebook page, and they will delete it. I am guessing that their morning show egomaniac (that would be Chris Lucky) admins their Facebook page, and he will censor anything that suggests that he talks WAAAAYYY too much (which he does!), laughs at his own lame jokes (he does!), and overuses "all-new" (he is definitely guilty of that one!). So much for hippies supposedly being against censorship.

So why do I still listen? Well, the other stations in town are even worse! I don't listen to the morning show at all anymore because Lucky is a legend in his own mind! If I am ever over on the other side of town, I tune into the Vol State station instead. If I lived down in the Cool Springs area, I would just tune in WKOM.

Fortunately for us, their egomaniac can't censor our comments here!

If I could have classic hits presented "Jack-FM"-style, I would be all set!

firepoint, Did we ever decide why WKOM doesn't increase its power to cover Nashville? It can be heard in Brentwood right?

I haven't posted because the new site messed up my bookmarks and loads too slow. If I had to think of any news it would be:
1) I assume 99.7 was on backup power today (5:30ish) because it was staticky from Nashville - Franklin and complete static Spring Hill - South.
2) Becca has now joined the WKDF morning team.
3) 106.7 (poor signal) and 107.5 (annoying music) have been replaced on my presets with 104.3 ZYP and 107.9 (Q108, also fairly weak signal). Nashville is in DIRE need of a hot AC station. This town is stuck between mix and jack and you can only hear so much Katy Perry and Pink 9 hours a day on an office radio before you go crazy.
4) 95.5 has a good music mix, but after moving South in range of WJJM and WLX, I never listen anymore. Bones/Wally morning and KDF any other time in Nashville. 95.5, while once my favorite, is now stale and has an annoying morning show - mainly Rick.
5) Lastly, I'm looking at WKOM's tower from my couch right now. It's signal doesn't travel much further than WLX's 100.7 250W translator. I'm assuming due to height and aging technology. On 65N it starts fading at hwy 96, listenable until Concord-OHB, then dies past Harding. That stations plays some dang good music with little commercials, but if TN sports or nascar interrupts my jamming one more time....! I'm dying to get in with those guys and if nothing else help 'em make a FB page.

Why are all the good stations stuck on low power signals that can't be upgraded? <SIGH>
WKOM doesn't have the space to increase power, especially north of Columbia. They are boxed in.

Is their programming still provided by one of the syndicated sattalite services? Or have they started programming in-house?

This is not the only board that has seen the number of posts decrease since the up-grade of the site. I've noticed that several other boards have had the same problem since all of the changes have taken place. I had to change my password at least three times after the most recent changes just so I could still post.

With all the FM translators that we have out there on the air now, your radio dial will sound almost completely different on your side of town from what I hear on mine. Not only can some of you pick up better stations in your neck of the woods than I can, out here in Bellevue, we still don't even have all of the chain restaurants that some of the rest of you have. We don't have...

Fazoli's
Zaxby's
Long John Silver's
Steak and Shake
Bob Evans

But we have TWO McDonald'ses just in the 37221 zip code alone!

And yeah, it took me several attempts to log in under my password before I was successful. I have noticed that a number of folks are now posting under new names, which tells me that maybe they were not able to access their pre-existing accounts.

I had to e-mail support because I never got any of the password reset e-mails. But a real person got back with me - fairly fast too - and he got me up and running.

Fire - that's not the fault of the residents of Bellevue, it is totally the fault of these companies looking at demographic info from some distant location and not seeing the true potential of drive-in traffic, surrounding areas, etc. Kind of like the same logic that no one over 45 buys anything new or shops anywhere different, so why market to them. Pure insanity. Trust me, there are some amazing success retail stories that have come from little ole 37221. Whether the world will ever believe or ever know it is TBD. I guess the McDonalds issue is/was for the real estate grab, as well.

As for logging in, etc. This seems to happen ever few years and sadly some folks never return to these pages.

There are several outparcels near the mall property, but as long as the status of Bellevue Center remains up in the air (as it has for six years now!), NOTHING will ever develop on those lots. I am guessing that the rents on some of these properties are so high that they are scaring would-be developers from coming in. Apparently, only banks can afford to locate there, because only banks have ever located on any of these properties. But the upshot to all of this is that since nothing ever developed, these properties are still only grassy lots. Very few vacant buildings where something came in, and then quickly left. (Save for the old Jack in the Box property across Highway 70S from the mall.) We have been very fortunate in that regard.

I suppose that what I am saying is that the grass is always greener someplace else.

Tibbs, the word that I hear here in Bellevue is that restaurants (mainly the nicer "sit-down" restaurants) won't locate here is because we do not have enough offices in the area that would support enough of a lunch-hour business here in Bellevue. And that is true. Shoney's and O'Charley's do well, but that is probably because they are both located right at the interstate exit out here. Which is why it puzzles me that Applebee's moved from their old location (where the Verizon store is now) to over on highway 100. But maybe there is now enough business in the highway 100 area to support restaurants. That seems to be the fastest growing area of Bellevue now. That, and the Nashville West area on the opposite side of the mall property. What I call "Bellevue proper" (the mall area along highway 70S) is the only area of Bellevue that seems to be suffering. And they are sandwiched by booming areas on either side of them.

WKOM is also boxed in from the south with 2kw WMXN in northeast AL and 22.5kw WBEI down in Tuscaloosa. WMXN and WKOM are always battling it out for dominance on 101.7 down here below the AL line as it is, neither of which actually cover this area

Although I understand you have a nice new greenway!

OK, let's see if we can make something pre-formatted work...

Well. Obviously it doesn't understand HTML tags. (tried it with angle brackets too, same non-response) Hope you can read it anyway.

Yes, we have nice greenways here. Eventually, they will all be connected to each other into one nice long greenway. I suppose that property acquisitions are necessary before that can happen. (Right now, there is one little stretch of greenway that can only be reached from the soccer fields off of Coley Davis Road.)

Add Panera Bread to the list of restaurants that I want out here. Wife and I met a mutual friend at Panera Bread in Hendersonville last weekend. And we ate at Ruby Tuesday over in Green Hills last week, so that isn't too terribly far away.

And to add to my ever-growing list of gripes about "Gyppie" radio: did anyone here hear their lame attempt at airing the retro '70s AT40 countdown yesterday? I counted (just while I was listening) at least FIVE times when songs or other program content were butchered so that they could apparently fit in more commercials! Some of these songs were butchered after as little as 30 seconds! The countdown ended nearly an hour early yesterday because they butchered so much of it! This has to be the absolute sorriest excuse for a radio station that I have ever heard! Their bumper sticker comes OFF my car today! Enough is enough, "Gyppie" radio. You tried, and you failed! Pack it up and move back to Indiana!

Agreed, re:panera. Although I'd hate to see them pull business from City Limits. (on the other hand, anyone who isn't already familiar with Bellevue will never *find* City Limits) There's finally a Panera on White Bridge.

Note the application for what would be Bellevue's second radio station... it's across the street from Sears Auto. I think that's a doctor's office if I recall properly? It's a "singleton" which means the FCC is almost certain to grant it but I'll be very surprised if they don't move the antenna somewhere else.

Good thing that the WNRQ and WBUZ translators either are, or will be HD2s. Otherwise, very redundant coverage areas in Brentwood and Murfreesboro, respectively, assuming that I am reading the charts correctly. K-Love could actually use a translator in the Brentwood area because 97.1 (at least when Cumulus owned them) tended to break up in Brentwood, on the "wrong" side of the Percy Warner Park hills.

Might as well use that Bellevue area for an actual station, not just a translator, or tower. What I now hear is that the mall owner is waiting out Sears before closing for good. But Sears has told its employees that they aren't going anywhere, that they are "here to stay." I can attest to the fact that when I worked seasonal jobs at UPS, there was always a big pickup AND delivery at the Bellevue Sears location. (Now I hear that Sears down in Cool Springs is closing!)

The new Bellevue library has finally been divorced from the mall project, but ground has yet to be broken on their new location on the field behind Bellevue Middle School.

Meanwhile, the old Regal Cinemas building also still sits empty. Supposedly, flood water was OVER the interstate in that area!

Agreed on City Limits. It is also my understanding that Fazoli's won't come out here because Pasghetti's is already here. Don't know how true that is, although we had Sbarro in the food court at Bellevue Center back when they were here.

Firepoint, be careful what you wish for. Mount Juliet was a much cooler town when we had to drive to Rivergate to eat out.

Nock and it looks like we get a translator. Yippee! That should save radio

Nock
