CBS axes We are Men

CBS has axed the new sitcom We Are Men. The show was airing on Mondays at 8:30PM. Effective immediately 2 Broke Girls will be airing at 8:30PM and for the next couple of weeks reruns of Big Bang Theory will be airing at 9PM. Mike & Molly's season premiere will be on Monday November 4th at 9PM a new time-slot for the show.

Not surprised at all at the "We Are Men" cancellation...the writing was pretty much on the wall after the first episode aired. The show didn't fit well on CBS to begin with, and probably would have been a better fit for Fox or a cable network where it probably would have lasted a little longer, but still probably would have failed.

I never thought "2 Broke Girls" belonged at 9/8C to begin with. To be honest, I stopped watching the show early last season when it became apparent that the show was pretty much one crude, and not all that funny, joke after another. I'm glad CBS has moved 2BG back to 8:30/7:30C, as I thought that would be part of the solution to the network's current Monday night woes, but was kind of surprised they actually did it. I figured CBS would want to be as consistent as possible and would just put comedy repeats or "Mike & Molly" in the 8:30 slot, leaving 2BG at 9:00.

I'm kind of surprised CBS is waiting till November to bring back "Mike & Molly." It's my understanding that M&M has a full 22-episode order, despite officially being a mid-season replacement show. That goes to show that CBS was pretty much expecting at least one of its new sitcoms to bomb immediately, which occurred with "We Are Men." I think "Mike & Molly"'s shooting schedule was delayed a little to accommodate Melissa McCarthy's film shooting schedule, but I figured they would have a couple episodes ready by now. Perhaps CBS wants more time to promote the show.

The premise of "Mom" isn't bad, but the writing isn't all that good...definitely not up to par with the other Chuck Lorre sitcoms. I turned off last Monday's episode roughly halfway through the show. I've read where other people have said CBS will probably nurture "Mom" because of Lorre and his record for success, and I think that's probably true. However, I would imagine Lorre has already gotten the memo to punch-up the writing and make the show funnier. French Stewart's "Chef Rudy" character needs to have a slightly more prominent role in the show. The character is hilarious, but only has a few lines per episode. On the other hand, the Gabriel character could just disappear or be written out of the show and I doubt nobody would really notice.

I watched perhaps 5 minutes of it, Monday with a look on my face like "this show actually made it on tv?" (which, btw, was the same look I had seeing the promos all summer). I really didn't see anything interesting about or even entertaining about it. To me it came across as the comedy version of "Men of a Certain Age" except not as funny or interesting (sub Jerry Connell for Scott Bakula, Kal Penn for Andre Braugher and Tony Shaloub for Ray Romano and add an un-needed 4-th and there ya go).

Good CBS. Next - Cancel Two and a Half MEN. That show deserves to be thrown away - Ashton Kutcher has ruined it, and Alan's character is horrible now.

I don't know if Kutcher ruined it - IMO, it had pretty much jumped the shark during it's last season with Sheen. You're right about Alan - the character is now just a sad parody of any kind of real person. I suspect Cryer is sticking with it because he realizes his career may go nowhere after 2 1/2 Men.. It's interesting that Sheen is still basically doing the same show (Anger Management on FX, and has convinced his dad (Martin) to join him in the crude humor

It says volumes that I haven't even seen the shows that have already been cancelled. There was a time I would have made sure I at least checked out one episode of the premiere shows on the 'Big 4' networks. Now, for the most part, I am hooked on the basic and premium cable dramas and comedies - they really are superior - and have given up the Big 4, with a few exceptions.

I didn't see the first episode of "We Are Men", but I did try to watch the episode from this past Monday. I watched maybe 10 minutes of the show before I swithed channels. Based on what I saw on Monday, would have been surprised if it wasn't cancelled by the end of the week.

I couldn't stand it. I tried the second episode, which was better and even had Frank's daughter in a bikini. But Tony Shalhoub isn't even enough to make me watch.
