Format/call suggestions for WZMR/104.9

Well, 104.9 will be switching from Country (maybe with Christmas in between), what would your format suggestion be?

- Modern AC? Yes, it'd be a fourth CHR in the Pamal family (alongside the Mainstream, Hot AC and Urban CHR) but this could lead B95 to tweak their playlist a bit to skew a bit softer

- Alternative? Perhaps, I'd like to see Jason Keller back on the radio, and Alternative would be a great fit on a signal like 104.9

- Urban AC? With the growing Black population in the area, Urban AC might be a good idea, and could easily cross-promote with Jamz

- Spanish? We do have a growing Hispanic population too, maybe it's time for a Spanish format? Not sure how well it'd do on an FM though, maybe save this for an AM

- Oldies? WTRY needs competition, because they only play the same 70 or so songs... (then again, oldies stations tend to have high ratings but lag in revenue)

- Some kind of talk or sports? As long as it's not some experimental format (like 24/7 Celebrity Gossip or something equally stupid) or more conservative talk I'd be fine... (too bad 980 is dual FOX/NBC Sports now?)

As for call letters, would you keep the WZMR letters or change them?

Why not spin the format wheel and see where it lands. Maybe like I said an oldies format or shall I say Real Oldies where they will play a lot of 50's and 60's along with 70's, just like "Fox Oldies" did and they will go after WTRY and WROW's "Magic 590" and it will have three stations playing older music.

Or maybe they should bring back smooth jazz on 104.9 and being back the "Love-FM" moniker since it hasn't been used since 2005, or maybe 104.9 will have a Rhythmic AC format like WNEW's former "Mix 102.7" or rhythmic oldies or shall I say "Jammin' Oldies" like "Jammin' 105" or WBPM's former "Rhythm 94.3" did about 10 years ago.

They own MAGIC 590!!!! Why would they compete with themselves? They can either move MAGIC to 104.9 and put something else on 590 or they can simulcast 590.

Or maybe 590 will flip to CBS Sports Radio and move "Magic" over to 104.9. That would be an excellent idea.

Modern AC? Hell, no! They tried that before and failed, switching to now-defunct Smooth Jazz!

Alternative? No way! They've tried that already! Leave that to WEQX!

Urban AC? You freakin' bet! We've been waiting much too long for one!
How about WXSL -- Soul 104.9 FM: The Latest And The Greatest? With Carla Page as PD. Tom Joyner weekday mornings!

Spanish? All the Latinos in Amsterdam will love that!

Oldies? Nah!

Some kind of talk or sports? That would be a waste of time!

As for call letters, would you keep the WZMR letters or change them?
Depending on the format change, I would change them!

I am noticing some changes on 590 this weekend. Is it in preparation for the switch and/or simulcast to 104.9? If so when will it happen? Would be great to see WTRY with some quality competition. Considering the fact that WTRY doesn't even ID themselves during automated breaks, it should be an easy slam dunk. Unless 104.9 does something completely unexpected, like wall to wall Christmas through Christmas...YIKES!!!
