New Ratings

TOC is up to a 0.7 6+. That's probably the best showing yet for a translator.

Is it me or is WNNX being listed as AOR a little "dated"?

I thought "active rock" had better demos agency wise.

Interesting that WSBB is able to stay atop V-103 again, which is just a hop above Majic which is just a hop above Kiss 104.
Quite possible that Majic may overtake V-103 (they closed the gap by .9 this time).

Oh Oh V103, what's going on? I still haven't had a chance to listen to Ryan Cameron in the mornings. I still flip between Rickey Smiley and Rashan Ali.

How is Rashan Ali's show doing? Does anyone know? By the way, Hot 107.9's PD Hurricane Dave is posting on Facebook that his station is Number #1 18-34 for the second book in a row

WNNX Rock 100.5 is NOT active rock. They are what I consider mainstream. I guess mainstream and AOR are the same thing but no, they are not active rock. They play too much classic rock and 90s rock to be considered active rock and they lack lots of the newer stuff on the active rock chart.

So looks like WRDA kind of has settled. 3.6. Well, guess that's the best "rock" station in town, but hoped they'd start going back up. Maybe they need to rethink that ultraconservative playlist as far as new adds. Last time I listened they were getting a little old with its "currents" and repeating recurrents way too much that have been beaten to death ("Sail" anyone?).

Thankfully, up here in Greenville, X98.5 still exists (for how long, no one knows) and staying quite fresh, but I'm already setting up to stream from out of state when it's gone and Radio 105.7 probably won't be on my presets.

Check out WEQX if you want the more indie/independent mixed with top alt rock bands.

Radio 105.7 has got to get a little more fearless with their playlist or they will die. Once the numbers start going down, all the hard work of trying to get those numbers to a certain point will be lost because those that once listened will be gone for good.

Rock 100.5, while it may make better sense to go active rock, they may still have a chance to go alternative if they can come on out pretty aggressive.

I do note that rock 100.5 is up by .2 points.

It is kind of sad. Radio 105.7 seemed to have a good shot at being a successful alt station given the format's recent downhill history in Atlanta. But it may end up being another station sent to the graveyard because they didn't take advantage of the early boon. I know what they were trying to do by playing it safe early on, but getting to the point where it just sounds stale is not a good thing for any station regardless of format.

In their defense - Atlanta is very "hits" based. When I say that, I'm not talking just top 40 but most of the stations play ONLY the cream of the crop of that genre. Most stations have a playlist of 300 or less.

I'm reading facebook and seeing all the folks excited about the "new" song called "Royals" by Lorde. Uh - Lorde has another single out called "Team" and every alternative station in america (oh except for Radio 105.7) is playing it.

I just spent a few hours listening to rock 100.5 and I'm laughing sarcastically as I type this but it's amazing that a station trying to play Classic Rock, 90s grunge, new active rock and even alternative rock, can't seem to do better than an hour before playing the same artist again. Seriously? I know straight up alternative or active rock stations that have a larger playlist than that.

You would think that if a station is going to try a combination of three different formats, their playlist would be triple the size as the competition. NOT! What a joke.

WEQX has become my station of choice. I've even increased my data on my phone for the streaming capabilities during my commute.

Just when I thought the grown folks radio war from late spring had died down, seems like it is slightly flaring up. V-103 may be the most well known urban outlet in the US outside of NY, LA and Chicago but it seems to be too focused on celebrity status and barely enough on Metro Atl itself. But what can u do when u have jocks appearing on CNN or one of the reality shows set here. But musicwise as long as it plays new R&B titles that most so-called hip-hop/rnb outlets won't touch (i.e. Babyface/Toni Braxton, Jaheim or Ron Isley) it won't have to worry too much about the two adult rnb heads cutting the 25-54 audeince too dry.

What I want to know is how long CC is going to stick with Power 96.

LOL. Even CHR plays "Royals". In fact, I thought it just hit #1 in airplay on CHR.

And yeah, even our little station in Greenville has been playing "Team" for a few weeks now.

But as mentioned before, it'll be gone soon so I'll be right along side you streaming and WEQX along with Radio 104.5, which seems to be opening up a bit again will likely be among those I stream.

LOL you hit it on the head about the celebrity status. HOT 107.9 is #1 18-34 and MAJIC 107.5 is #3 6+. Even though V103 is well balanced playing both hip-hop and r&b, listeners maybe shifting towards HOT for Hip-Hop and Kiss/Majic for R&B. V103's midday playlist is all over the place from 2 Chainz to Keith Sweat.

LOL!! You are absolutely right! I believe mgmt at V-103 thought big names such as Tigger and Egypt would pull in the numbers, but sometimes listeners want someone they can connect to, not look up to. As for the Ryan Cameron morning show; it just doesn't mesh like the other morning shows, namely Rickey Smiley, Steve Harvey.

I wouldn't say middays are "all over the place". Middays are middays, 60% R&B about 40% hip-hop and within that composition about 30% of that is classics or old school. The 2 Chainz song you heard prior to that Keith Sweat song was actually a R. Kelly song featuring 2 Chainz, so it's contemporary R&B next to old school R&B. Those at V aren't foolish but they will mix it up and give people something different that Hot, Streetz, Kiss, or Majic won't do. V is still #1 for the 18-49 demo, which is where most of their revenue and ratings tends to originate.

Someone needs to tell Hurricane Dave, PD at Hot 107.9, that because he is on Facebook saying his station has beat V103 for a second book in a row and Hot is number one in the 18-49 demo. And he promises a 3-peat, if that's possible.
