I could not believe this, but it must be true:

Maybe WLW-700 is going to dump all their remaining local talk shows, replacing them with syndicated programs from Clear Channel-owned Premiere Networks (and since Premiere, as far as I know, doesn't have a national morning-drive talk show, maybe the syndicated Imus in AM drive), and perhaps some more paid programming on weekends.
Thus with an all-syndicated lineup, Daryl Parks' job wouldn't be needed
A few weeks ago Parks made a pretty outspoken blog on the WLW website. Not sure if anybody caught it as the station removed it pretty quickly. He said some negative things about the FCC plan to revitalize AM radio, basically saying it was a big joke. Maybe that didn't set to well with corporate?

Almost ten years ago, Darryl bought sweatshirts for the staff that had the logo and "2015" on them. He said that by 2015, we'd all be gone. His point was that the industry was going to change significantly. He knew he'd be included.
Of course no one pays attention to the online stream....just heard Darryl promoting his blog.
While I don't like to see anyone lose a position especially after being there all of those years, I was never impressed with Daryl Parks. He had all kinds of opinions (some I basically agreed with), but when it came time to comment to the Enquirer on something connected with the station, he always seemed have "no comment". There is just so much that WLW could make better, but I'm not sure how much he had to do with that.
Actually, the post was up for at least a few days--maybe roughly a week (or even more). And, even when it was taken down, the comments remained for at least a bit. It was certainly long enough for most of the trade sites to notice; indeed, most of the coverage of his firing references that post.
I can't say whether it was indeed a cause of his dismissal; still, it was the first thing that crossed my mind.
The "Columbus Enquirer, Cincinnati Edition" and "A Ohio State University" weren't funny in the first place, and just got older over time. I actually agreed with a lot of his opinions as well.
I think that had to do with how WLW has been promoted over the years. Maybe it's me, but I do not like how arrogant the station and most of the on air personalities sound.
