CBS needs to blow up 1210 AM

The talk format is not working anymore in the ratings and the way the station is being run by Andy Bloom and Marc Rayfeild is the reason why the station is in bad shape in many ways. . Their programming decisions in the last 3 years has come back and bite them in the butt. Hiring Dick Morris for afternoons is one of the worst moves ever in Philly talk radio. I would like 1210 to become sports or all news.

Nothing much has changed in the last couple of months. I guess your promise on the other board not to keep posting this doesn't apply here. Your position is clear. Julius, I'm sorry, but repetition isn't going to get them to change their minds.

for the record, i left a phone message for CBS radio on Tuesday. i called 212-975-4321 and the operator connected me to the CBS radio voice mail and I left them a message about 1210 and 1060. if you guys and gals want to complain about KYW-AM and WPHT,

if more people complain, change is likely to happen. we don't have to accept things the way they are

No, you don't have to accept things. Radios still have two basic controls. One turns it off. The other changes the frequency.

Besides, as long as they can sell time, who cares if somebody complains on a message board?

WPHT won't change. Going Sports would be foolish WIP and WPEN are firmly entrenched, and why would CBS compete with their own KYW? I agree Dick Morris is not a good talk host. I find his show very dull. Talk is the only game in town for them. It could be better.

CBS might as well shut 1210 down or sell it and just deal with the 4 successful stations in town. WIP-AM/FM, WOGL and KYW. They don't care about WPHT. something major will happen with 1210 AM before the 2014 Phillies regular season starts and my gut tells me that ether the station will make more changes to the schedule to its lineup or drop the talk format.

Rush & Hannity have not helped the WPHT ratings. No wonder clear channel won't air Rush, Hannity & its
other talkers on a clear channel station in Phillly.

No doubt we will see that reflected in the 12+ numbers that come out soon. Like i said, I expect something to come down regarding 1210 AM before the start of the Phillies regular season.

Did CBS want Rush & Hannity back on WPHT or did clear channel have to make some type of deal with cbs
to get Rush & Hannity back on 1210?

this is what kind of talk station we got in philly, they are running best of segments of Rich Zeoli after the temple game that aired tonight, as of this post. 1210 has been doing that a lot lately, especially when the weather is bad and the regular hosts can get to the studio. WOR, WABC, WLS I don't think would do things like this.

As I stated on the old board, the one thing I dislike about WPHT is the constant pre-empty of CTCAM, and the sports busting in at times cancelling Hannity. All the other CTCAM affiliates run CTCAM, 1-5am, seven days a week. 1210 runs the final hour of the previous show from 12-1pm mon-fri then dumps them on the weekend. You may get an hour or so on sat and sun then they cut in with those infomercials and you miss the continuation. If they wont run it full time then give it to another outlet.

That is so terrible that 1210 is treating this show like dirt. Andy Bloom and Marc Rayfeild should resign and let someone else run WPHT. currently, the same management that runs WPHT, also runs WIP-AM/FM. they don't care about 1210, they only care about WIP-FM/AM since they are more successful that WPHT. its time that CBS bring in new folks to separately run WPHT.
contact info if you want to complain to them directly about WPHT.

It would be a good idea for them to run CTCAM on WIP-610 full time. I dont think anyone is listening to sports on that 5kw flamethrower waste of a signal. Standards or Classic Oldies during the day and CTCAM at night. Would do alot better than what is running now..

I don't understand the issue. There are several suburban Philly stations that run CTCAM, and lots of other affiliates that stream it. Go to the show site.

Where I live in Center City WPHT is the only CTCAM signal I can receive; on occasion, WWVA or WBT come in and once in a blue moon I can receive WILM. I usually listen when I am sleeping or in bed so the internet or my apple 5 is kinda cumbersome to say the least at 2am.

I assume you mean an iPhone5. "Cumbersome" how?
You listen while sleeping???? Good thing there's not a quiz the next day.

Why not have WPHT do a format that is like WQLL 1370 in balitmore!? A good classic hits station might take time to catch on but WQLL has been doing great for the past 4 or 5 years. WOGL 98.1 in philly is mostly all 70's disco it seems, and therefore to have another classic hits outlet in philly could work. Its either WOGL, WMGK, or WVLT 92.1 from vineland. So why not have WPHT be a classic hits station now?

I guess all I can say is being a radio geek like most posters here, I still enjoy tuning an AM radio for entertainment a dying trend that probably soon will be no more...

wqll is a fantastic am station with a strict pattern, I mentioned that months back on this board when I was in the Baltimore area although it hardly makes it anywhere outside the city going North or East, WIP would be a good candidate for that format. Now for OGL, as long as Tommy is at the helm the 98.1 frequency will be mostly Rhythmic/Soul/R&B, he is know for being a soul jock from way back so it just goes with the territory. OGL's HD-2 is unlistenable for me also, which TM programs, its mostly R&B and with all the good 70's music that was around, one example is Beth by Kiss, forget about hearing that one. You can tell instantly when you tune into MGK-HD-2, its a broader variety than OGL was, when they were Oldies, even thought its a very tight playlist the music is better.
