"Savage dominates Hannity in key markets" Politico

Savage is correct. Hannity is a tired, broken record. With a democrat as president, he has nothing to talk about. Savage is very entertaining. I've been listening to him on and off for years.

As I mentioned in another thread, I couldn't agree more.

Hannity is the worst of all the Limbaugh clones. Completely UNoriginal, and worst of all, as Savage points out, shallow and incapable of moving beyond talking points.

It's not an education issue. That's not why Hannity's show isn't good.

Hanitty is just not a very bright fellow.
Give him credit for turning an entertainment job into a multi-million dollar product...and stop there. This guy has done more to distort conservative philosophy than anyone....at least the public's perception of "conservative."
Hanitty is NOT a real conservative. Neither is Ann Colter, another Republican shill who is constantly blathering stupidity on his shows. These are two "showbiz" types who are no different than all the main stream media people they are constantly blasting.
Savage is a true, walking, talking stereotype. It's hard to believe he works anywhere except NYC or Tel Aviv...

I wonder how many people are still tuning in to 770, thinking it's still Hannity, and not even noticing it's a different show. We had a station in our market that changed formats, and people kept listening to the new format, even requesting songs for the old format, and never changed the station. Amazing.

This is not a fair comparison. First Hannity is on some inferior stations. For instance, you can't compare Dallas 50,000 watt Class I-A WBAP to Salem's KSKY (10 kw by day but only 700 watts after sunset... and some of Hannity's show airs after sunset in winter). You can't compare Chicago 50,000 watt Class I-A WLS to Salem's 5000 watt WIND. The worst comparison is in Detroit, where WJR is also a 50,000 watt Class I-A while Hannity is on Salem's 1000 watt WDTK.

Even in NYC, where the 50,000 watt signals for WABC and WOR are roughly on par, Hannity moved to a station he had never been on, while Savage stayed on a station he's been on for years. Savage's timeslot moved but not his address. And let's remember in LA and San Francisco, Clear Channel decided to move Rush and other syndicated hosts, including Hannity, to new stations with lesser signals. The idea was to make KFI and KKSF all-local during the day, putting Rush, Hannity, Beck, etc. on KTLK (now KEIB) and KNEW. Only in LA is Hannity on a better signal than Savage, although neither is on one that covers the entire market, 1150 vs. 790.

The Salem stations get such bad ratings that in many markets, Salem doesn't pay Arbitron to rate them. To advance the owners' Conservative Christian political agenda, Salem operates the Talk stations as a break-even enterprise, while the paid religion stations are the ones that make money. OK, you may ask what made Hannity insist he wasn't going to be on Cumulus stations anymore? In markets where there's no Clear Channel Talk station, it forces Hannity to go on inferior stations.

Politico didn't take into account the quality of the signal or the fact that Hannity moved to a new address while Savage is staying on the same stations he's been airing on for years, since Cumulus became his syndicator. I'm no fan of either host. I honestly don't understand how Talk Radio has become the property of the far, far right. But this is not a fair comparison.

My guess is NOBODY.

Hannity and Savage are nothing alike. Voice, demeanor, content, all different.

To be more specific, Savage is a hard-hitting, gravel voiced, fierce personality with a wide range of opinions and interests, while Hannity is a high-pitched, nasally, talking point machine.

The juxtaposition of those two is a great example of the difference between shallow, empty-headed talkradio and stimulating, entertaining talkradio.

I don't even care about his politics. Savage is a fascinating personality. Hannity, OTOH, is insufferably boring and one-dimensional.
