WOR mornings

I can't see Shannon on WNOW, WCBS FM or WWFS playing the same songs over & over.
He may like the challlenge of doing talk on WOR. And who knows--- at some point he
might be on WOR-- AM --FM.

It's hard to imagine Scott Shannon going to WNOW, WWFS, WCBS FM and not being the PD & morning guy.

When people say that AM radio needs to attract better demos and advertisers, is that because of the higher salaries that radio hosts make today versus twenty years ago? There are more radio hosts than ever before making over a million dollars a year. I don't think that if radio hosts were making as much money there would be as much of a fuss about the demos. Also, how was talk radio doing after 9/11 when syndicated radio was starting to spread, and people were tuned in due to the war on terrorism?

A lot of costs have gone up in the last 20 years. Rent, insurance, electric, just about everything has gone up. Meanwhile, new competition in the media world has kept the price of commercials stable. It's getting harder and harder to attract advertisers, especially if the average age of a station audience is over 50. Salaries for radio hosts aren't that high. Sure, there are some exceptions, especially in NYC. But that's because living costs in NYC are also very high.

It's because the amount of listeners AM radio has is much less than what it was in the 60s and 70s. There areas many other places for listeners to go today.

This would be a good question. I wish that Scott Shannon will either go to WOR or not, but maybe, he might get a shot at WCBS-FM, but it's going to happen soon. If not, I got an idea for a new morning show for WOR, and I got two names to say, Bob & Sheri. I haven't listened to Bob & Sheri for years, they did their own podcast and and they were also on WCTW's "The Cat" in Catskill, NY, but I love to see Bob Lacey & Sheri Lynch to New York City. They were popular in North Carolina when it was on WLNK's "The Link" at 107.9. This would give this one a shot. Which comes first, Scott Shannon, or Bob & Sheri. Make you pick, and one of them might end up at WOR.

Shannon going to cbs fm. Now who will do mornings on WOR? Let the speculation begin .

Does clear channel want a local morning show on WOR or a show that's syndicated ? That's the question.

Jim Kerr & Shelli Sonstein to mornings on WOR. ?

but Q104.3 can't hire Dave Herman right now.

But ---- if Jim Kerr came to WOR for mornings--how would he do better than John Gambling was doing?
Kerr must be about the same age as Gambling.
Maybe clear channel just wanted to dump Gambling's BIG salary. Or, just wanted someone new in mornings.

If Scott Shannon never goes to WOR, he already got the job at CBS-FM to start this Monday. What next at WOR? Put "Bob & Sheri" to morning. They did a great job, and I like Bob Lacey & Sheri Lynch, they were a ton better than Howard Stern and Opie & Anthony, those two shock jocks that I'm not a fan of, but "Bob & Sheri" is way better. They had the "Eye Opener" and the "Chatroom". "Bob & Sheri" can still be heard on WCTW's "The Cat" at 98.5 in Catskill, and it is still popular in Charlotte, NC when it is being heard on WLNK's "The Link" at 107.9, but let's hope if WOR will wake up and smell the coffee, and I do hope "Bob & Sheri" will end up on WOR. We can only hope. Bob & Sheri has a Facebook page if you want to check it out.

companies often advertise jobs just for legal reasons. they likely know who they want to hire for mornings on WOR.

Will WOR try another young morning host (or team) or hire someone to do what Gambling was doing ?
Anyone they hire likely will be paid less than Gambling. Question is----how long will it take WOR to hire someone.?

why would Jim Kerr (& Shelli Sonstein) go to WOR? It would likely require more work than
their Q104.3 show does. But, maybe they'd go to WOR if the $$$ was a lot better. I think Jim & Shelli
could be good on WOR & possibly attract some younger / middle age listeners.

Solution

They should go with joe Bartlett as permanent host
