Cable systems that cross market lines

ftballfan mentioned some cable systems that cross market lines, such as Charter in Clare MI and some MIcom systems in West Michigan.

Also, Atlantic Broadband has one system serving Middletown DE (Philadelphia DMA) and Chesapeake City MD (Baltimore DMA), but carrying mostly Philly stations.

Any other examples?

I guess this would count from personal experience: Charter in Jackson, TN is based in the Jackson market, but several counties in their coverage area are actually in the Memphis market, including where I live in Crockett County.

Mediacom has at least two examples of these in west central Illinois involving the Peoria/Bloomington and Quad Cities (Davenport/Rock Island/Moline) markets:

Elmwood, Yates City, Farmington, Glasford, Hanna City, London Mills, Smithville, Fairview, Dunfermline & St. David (in Peoria, Knox, and Fulton counties). Most of these towns are in Peoria or Fulton counties and hence in the Peoria DMA, but Yates City is in southeastern Knox County (Quad Cities DMA) while London Mills straddles the Knox/Fulton county line. But the only Quad City channel that is offered on that lineup is KLJB-18 Davenport (Fox), while only the Peoria stations are in HD. Even while Yates City satellite viewers get the QC locals and have to rely on cable or antenna for the Peoria stations. [However, I grew up near that area and although I can't vouch this with certainty, it is possible that the Elmwood and Yates City parts of this system may have also had WQAD-8 Moline (ABC) on cable around the mid-80s, while the remaining QC stations have and continue to be received with a good antenna in much of this cable system's territory].

Brimfield, Bureau, Dunlap, Granville, Hennepin, Mark, Oak Park Estates, Princeville & Standard (Peoria, Marshall, Putnam and Bureau counties). The small town of Bureau is the only community who gets this lineup that is NOT in the Peoria DMA (they're in Bureau County, IL which is part of the Quad Cities DMA), yet only Peoria stations are offered. Plus Putnam County, IL is next door to LaSalle, IL, the COL for TBN O&O WWTO, yet they get their TBN from satellite rather than OTA on cable.

I am pretty sure that southern NJ would probably have more of the Philly presence, while northern NJ would probably have more of NYC presence on the dial.

Heck, I just wish Comcast could get their act together with their phone and e-mail services that lag by hours - even days - in transmission arrival for whatever reason.

Comcast's system in Brooklyn MI (Lansing DMA) also serves Cambridge, Cement City and Onsted in Lenawee County (Toledo DMA).

Time Warner Dyer-Rutherford TN (Jackson DMA) also covers a small part of Obion County (Paducah-Cape DMA) around Kenton.

Comcast of Central NJ (East Brunswick area) carries both NYC and Philly stations.

Verizon Fios in Mercer county carries NYC and Philly.

But those systems are within one DMA (NYC and Philly respectively). This thread is about systems that cross market lines.

Two cable companies - Mediacom and Liberty Communications - serve both West Liberty IA (Quad Cities DMA) and West Branch IA (Cedar Rapids DMA). Both companies' lineups tend to lean toward Cedar Rapids, with all of that market's network affiliates carried in HD. As for the Quad Cities stations, only WHBF is carried in HD on Mediacom, while KWQC, WQAD, KLJB and WQPT are in HD on Liberty.

And WHBF is not carried at all on Liberty!

From the "Most affiliates of one network on one cable system" thread:

CMA Cablevision in La Grange, TX (Austin DMA) carries FOUR ABC affiliates:
KVUE Austin (cable 8)
KSAT San Antonio (cable 12)
KTRK Houston (cable 13)
KAVU Victoria (cable 19)

KVUE and KTRK are in HD.

This system also serves Weimar in Colorado County (Houston DMA). For MNT they get KTXH instead of KBVO, and for Univision they get KXLN instead of KAKW.

Time Warner Cable of Athol/Orange, MA. It's one of the very few systems Time Warner has here in MA. Athol is in the Boston DMA and Orange is in the Springfield DMA. All their HD channels are from Boston.

And with Time Warner's new lineup, you can't tell whether a channel is in HD or SD unless you have an HDTV set.

Charter's Monteagle TN system (Grundy County - Chattanooga DMA) crosses into Franklin County (Nashville DMA). In HD, it carries NBC, ABC and CBS from Chattanooga and CBS and FOX from Nashville. It's the same in SD, plus CW, MNT and a religious indie from Nashville, and CW and TBN from Chattanooga.
