Ok, not to split hairs, but "Walk Like An Egyptian" peaked at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 on December 20, 1986, remaining there for 4 weeks, into January 1987. It ended 1986 as the #1 song, and equalled "That's What Friends Are For" by Dionne Warwick, which also had a run of 4 weeks atop the chart. I do stand corrected, Dionne was the number one in '86, Bangles were '87 as stated by willdav.
Still, if what you said is correct, and the countdowns of AT 40 and the year end top 100 countdown ran on KONO 101, then "Walk Like An Egyptian" aired as well, on the KONO airwaves, since it was the number 1 song at the end of the year.
