KONO airing Casey's Top 40 and Casey's Top 100 countdown

Been listening to KONO today, and they are doing some sort of marathon remembering Casey Kasem. Been playing 7 hours of songs from 1985, and now they are into 1986.

Does KONO do Casey's Top 40 re-runs every Sunday from 7AM to 12PM?

There are no "Casey's Top-40" re-runs. Casey's Top-40 was a program that aired for a little less than 10 years (starting in either late 1988 or early '89) under Westwood One that went away when Casey bought the American Top-40 name in 1998 from ABC and took it to Premiere Radio Networks. From what I understand, Westwood One still owns the rights to Casey's Top-40, and none of the original episodes are available in syndication.

American Top 40 is the program that is syndicated by the Premiere Radio Netowrks, and KONO at least used to air American Top-40's 70's episodes on Sunday mornings.

At 40

Their are indeed replays of 'American Top 40' available through Premiere. They offer 70's episodes which are 3 hours in length, and 80's episodes which are 4 hours long. They are full repeats of the shows as they originally aired, sans commercials. I have no idea of the latter decade, I just know what I have heard, and what I have been pitched by Premiere. At one time there shows were also running weekly on SiriusXM's 70's and 80's channels - not sure if they still do.

I'd put big money on it that KONO did not play any version of AT40 yesterday.

KONO San Antonio is a sports station, after all...

Not trying to be a jerk, but the two are no longer simulcast with each other. It's a habit we've all got to break, so the sooner the better.

Can we refer to KONO-FM as KONO 101, like they do on air? You type just KONO and I (and many others I'm sure) instantly think of 860.

Thanks- the purple one

Well it was American Top 40 that they replayed last Sunday all day til about 10 pm Sunday on KONO-FM. The years they did was 1985 and 1986.

'85 & '86, huh? That's a little scary to know that The Bangles' "Walk Like an Egyptian" has now gone across KONO 101's airwaves, lol.

Wasn't it the #1 song of 1986?

I believe Kent is right on this. AT40 is syndicated by Premier, both the 70's version and the 80's. As for CT40, I don't recall ever hearing it being made available for rebroadcast since it originally aired.

So, is CT40 still owned by the Kasem estate or does anyone know?

It's amazing what they play on Kono 101.1 these days, it's sounds a lot more like Magic 105.3 did some years ago than the "oldies" station most people in San Antonio knew it for.

Bangles "Walk Like an Egyptian" was the #1 song of 1987.
It was Amercian Top 40 that was played not Casey's Top 40.

Ok, not to split hairs, but "Walk Like An Egyptian" peaked at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 on December 20, 1986, remaining there for 4 weeks, into January 1987. It ended 1986 as the #1 song, and equalled "That's What Friends Are For" by Dionne Warwick, which also had a run of 4 weeks atop the chart. I do stand corrected, Dionne was the number one in '86, Bangles were '87 as stated by willdav.

Still, if what you said is correct, and the countdowns of AT 40 and the year end top 100 countdown ran on KONO 101, then "Walk Like An Egyptian" aired as well, on the KONO airwaves, since it was the number 1 song at the end of the year.
