What to happened to Beau Edge on ESPN Austin?

Oh the irony! Good to have them team back up. What happens to Sean Adams?

The 2PM show on 1300AM is horrible even with Madani. I get the feeling 1300 The Zone is hanging on barely, and only because of its connection with UT.

Those two did have a good chemistry, I smiled when I read this -. "They're taking some chances by moving around their lineup." Not all that much of a chance, the station is mired at the bottom of the ratings and has been for quite awhile now.

Heck between them and Kvet, they can only manage a 1 in the overalls....

I have not read or heard anything about the status of Sean Adams. (Either they didn't announce it or I missed it.)

Sean Adams and Alex Loeb will host the 12 (noon) - 3 PM show starting Monday (08/19/2013).

They announced it on the air today and this confirms it:

https://twitter.com/thatsean

Happy to intro my new cohost @SpanningTheLoeb. Moving back to my favorite spot of the day from 12 - 3. Starts Monday on @1049TheHorn

I have pieced together the new schedule (changes) for "104.9 The Horn" (ESPN Austin) from different sources and programs for what has been announced (so far).

7 AM - 10 AM Chip Brown & Chad Hastings
12 PM (noon) - 3 PM Sean Adams & Alex Loeb
3 PM - 6 PM Erin Hogan & Bucky Godbolt

6 PM - 7 PM Charlie Hodge (no change announced)

[They are on AM 1260 KHz and FM 104.9 MHz]

If I understood them correctly, they just announced that the above schedule [see my previous post] is only for the FM side.
They will simulcast some, but not all of those programs, on the AM side.

Interesting, thanks Flyingdj. I thought the Mike and Mike show was pretty good for the morning times, but with college football about to start up, I can see why Erin would want a local show in the morning for Longhorn fans to call into. Great tp see Erin and Bucky back together again. Who is Alex Loeb?

flyingdj: They said that they were keeping Mike and Mike on 1260 Khz because they had built up a big following so you can still catch them on the AM side while the local program will be on the FM side.

Alex Loeb can be heard co-hosting "Adams & Loeb" on ESPN Austin 104.9 weekdays from noon to 3pm. Alex began his broadcasting career at "The U," doing award-winning play-by-play work for the Miami Hurricanes football, basketball and baseball teams. While attending the University of Miami, he also anchored news and sports for the UM television station. Alex's first job out of college took him cross-country to San Angelo, Texas. What started out as culture shock eventually turned into the best learning experience of his life. He produced, edited, shot, wrote and anchored the nightly weekday sportscast for KSAN. He learned about the tradition that is Texas high school football and, most importantly, it was where he met his future wife. But after 4 years in the Concho Valley, it was back to Miami to work for the ABC affiliate WPLG. He anchored and reported extensively on the Heat, traveling with the team during their 2006 championship run. In addition to covering sports, he reported on hard news including Hurricanes Katrina, Rita and Wilma. He also had the pleasure of working under sportstalk radio legend Hank Goldberg, while doing updates for WQAM. After four years however Alex was on the move again heading up north to Bristol, Connecticut. The home of ESPN. Every sports fan's dream. While working for the Worldwide Leader, he anchored updates on ESPN2 during the Scott Van Pelt Show, hosted various shows on ESPN.com with the likes of Cris Carter and Eric Allen and co-hosted a number of NBA podcasts alongside Jalen Rose and Bruce Bowen. Which brings Alex to where he is today. In 2012, Alex and his family decided to make the move to Austin (where his wife's family resides) and they couldn't enjoy it more. The people are warmer than the weather and there is nothing like talking about football in Texas (at any level). If you're not listening to Alex on the Horn, you can also catch him doing play-by-play on the Longhorn Network or out and about chowing down on some of the best BBQ on the planet.

flyingdj: There were some calls and texts complaining that the AM won't have the same lineup (all the local programs) as the FM. They suggested that they listen on the computer or smartphone if you can't pick up FM in your area and want to hear the local programs that won't be on the AM.

Any reason why are they keeping two hours of the Cowherd show? To me, he's the least enjoyable of all the National schedule and since I'm not all that much into the longhorns but more the national scene, I'm one of those who'll be migrating to 1260. It'll be nice though to have a selection.

They did mention that, and, if I remember correctly, they are keeping "The Herd" with Colin Cowherd because they thought he did a good job of covering the national sports and he has a good following in Austin. (I think that is "sort of" what they said.)

Fred Cantu wrote: How long have the Zone and ESPN been competing in Austin?

flyingdj: I didn’t answer this question because I don’t know the answer and was hoping that someone would be able to answer it for him.

I think I heard someone (it might have been Erin Hogan) say that he and someone else (it might have been Bucky Godbolt) started the first all-sports station in Austin in 1999.

Wouldn’t he be talking about KVET-AM?

Hopefully someone can fill in the correct information for Fred.

If I remember correctly, Jeff Ward started at KVET-AM but he might have been there when it was “talk radio” (not sports) and his program might have been the only sports show on KVET-AM at that time. I think Bill Schoening might have been with Jeff Ward at that time, but again, that is only from memory. I think Jeff left KVET-AM for KLBJ-AM and that is when Craig Way was hired. Again, this might have all been when it was “talk radio” and not a “sports talk” station. I don’t remember what year that happened or what year it went all sports.

All of that is from memory so some of it, all of it, or none of it might be correct.

The above information was about KVET-AM.
The following information is an excerpt from Wikipedia for The Horn (AM and FM stations.)

On November 2, 2009, KHHL swapped call letters from sister station KTXX 103.1 Karnes City, Texas followed by a format change sports, branded as "104.9 The Horn". The brand is a tribute to the University of Texas at Austin sports team, the Texas Longhorns.

KWNX (1260 AM) is an ESPN Radio branded Sports Talk radio station in Austin, Texas. The station broadcasts at 1260 kHz, on the AM dial and is under ownership of Total Austin Sports Radio LLC.

KWNX was previously an ESPN Deportes Radio affiliate and was the first Spanish-language sports radio station in Texas.[1] On September 4, 2011, it became a straight simulcast of its sister station, KTXX, with the exception of broadcasts of Texas Rangers and occasional Round Rock Express baseball, Baylor Bears and Texas State Bobcats football.

Starting today (09/16/2013) Charlie Hodge is moving his show (Hodge Happy Hour) to an hour later start time (The Horn, ESPN Austin, 104.9 MHz).

It had been from 6 PM to 7 PM and will now be 7 PM to 8 PM.

I do not know what other changes were made today.

In 2013 you asked about Sean Adams because he made a couple of different program (time) moves and then was released when Bob Cole and his group bought the station now known as The Horn.

Sean Adams (as of 08/04/2014) is now at KVET-AM 1300 KHz Austin Texas "The Zone" from 2 PM to 4 PM.

You can confirm this on his Twitter page: https://twitter.com/@thatsean

"The Adams Theory, 2 - 4 daily, AM 1300 The Zone"

The program schedule on the KVET-AM website has not been updated to show this change but he is (for sure) on The Zone from 2 PM to 4 PM weekdays.

Yeah, I have been listening to him. Smart move on KVET's part to up its local content. I like national syndicated sport shows, but one needs a local component to know whats going in one's backyard.

I don't think that they increased their local content.

I think they took two hours away from the local program “Sports Buffet with Craig Way, Rod Babers and Jon Madani” and gave it to Sean Adams with “The Adams Theory” which is also a local program.

This is what I think they did which ends up with no extra local program time added:

OLD PROGRAM SCHEDULE

2:00 PM - 7:00 PM
Sports Buffet w/Craig Way, Rod Babers and Jon Madani

NEW PROGRAM SCHEDULE

2:00 PM – 4:00 PM
The Adams Theory with Sean Adams

4:00 PM - 7:00 PM
Sports Buffet w/Craig Way, Rod Babers and Jon Madani

Unless you know of some other changes that they made, I think it was a net zero for added local programs.
