FTV LIVE says Connie Colla is leaving ABC 15

FTV Live says Connie Colla is leaving KNXV, Heather Moore is taking Carey Pena's place, and Kristen Keough left Fox 10 to do something on youtube called "Craftcasters."
 
KP -- -- You forgot to mention that FTV Live also said that Kaley O'Kelley is leaving to become the main anchor at KTVT in Dallas/Ft Worth.
 
Agreed, Landtuna! I just had a co-worker leave a good paying job with a pension plan to go run something similar on youtube.

She was 1/2 of the weekend hosts for Channel 10. I watched the first two and they did OK (although the male half looked a bit stiff) but switched back to Channel 3 after that. Fox did a fair amount of publicizing the new weekend show when KK arrived and during the time she was here - even having her guest on the weekday version so I am doubly surprised she quit/was fired/whatever so quickly.
 
base12, I know that you don't like Kaley. But the October ratings suggest otherwise. Kristen Keough was very unimpressive, giving the impression of being an airhead. If that's what you want in the mornings, please watch whatever you normally watch in the mornings. Kaley is an intelligent woman and not the least bit snobby IMHO.

IMHO KK is not an airhead. See has freshness and energy sorely lacking on GMAZ. The current occupant can't go to Dallas as planned fast enough IMHO. My IMHO is just as good and valuable as yours.
 
Opinions count when you substantiate them. Give some examples of how Kaley is "snobby".

Here's an example. I thought that Tara Hitchcock came across as "mean" sometimes. For example, she seemed to be able to "joke" about everyone else on GMAZ. However, when someone joked about her, Tara would quickly cut it off and move on to the next story.

How does Kaley come across as snobby? If Kaley is leaving, I nominate Heather Moore as her replacement (not as the evening anchor).

Thanks. The name rings a bell but the face didn't. I never watched EVB Live. Did catch Jason Volentine subbing for Ryan O'Donnell last Sunday on the GMAZ show. Don't remember seeing him before but he seems pretty smooth.

I think Hailey said on the Youtube piece that she is still a newscaster. KK said she had worked as a newscaster the previous five years.

The various TV stations seem to compete very intensely in their respective news departments. How do they tolerate one of their own dating someone from a competitor? Seems like that would cause intense heartburn to the ND's.

Were you aware that Channel 3 sports anchor Tim Ring was married to Channel 12 Morning anchor Fay Fredricks?

I completely agree with your assessment of Tara. There were so many times that she would pry into Scott's personal life that it would make me as a viewer uneasy. It was these altercations that made me drop 3 to the bottom of my list for viewing. It had not changed until 5 started merging with them! Also, I agree Heather Moore will be a great anchor but morning/evening does not matter to me.

It is also fair to note that my opinions of anchors does change over time. As an example, I did not really care for Linda Alvarez when she was in town but when I would go on vacation to LA and she was on stations over there (first 4 and then 2/9) she was awesome.

Now for the first example, I have about Kaley being a snob. Have you seen the ridiculous promotion 3 uses to promote the food drive with Fry's? In that promotion Scott is running around the store trying to get goods for the drive. Kaley buys the coupons and is drinking some kind of latte. At the end she says how smart she is for not having to do the work Scott did. That is the very type of attitude I can't stand about her. Now remember 3 is at the bottom of my list so when I rarely do watch. When Icatch some other examples I will give them. I will say that over the last week or so later in the morning Javier and Gina have been anchoring together and it seems like a good combination.

OK so I met your challenge to some extent. Now to be fair you should give an example of how Kristen Keough comes across as an air head! I liked her in the morning and as I guess you can see I definitely prefer her over Kaley

Guess I missed that announcement. That seems a little bit different though since they don't compete head-to-head (unless Fay does sports too).
 
I doubt an employer dictating who you can and cannot fraternize with out of work would go over too well...

They don't need to dictate. It is easy enough to find other "reasons" to dump someone you'd be uncomfortable with having on your staff.

While I totally disagree that Kaley comes across as snobby in the promo that you mentioned (she comes across as a heck of lot smarter than Scott -- I actually like intelligent, educated people), I do respect your opinion.

That said, I watched Kisten on Fox weekend am's a number of times. I thought she seriously lacked confidence and was simply "reading" off the teleprompter. Her serious lack of confidence and tendancy to giggle was very off-putting for me. In addition, she had very little poise and confidence at the weather map, which was part of her weekend am duties. (In contrast, Tess learned to do weather on 3TV and has confidence and poise at the weather map.) Personally, I like confident, intelligent newscasters and KK just didn't meet my personal hurdle for a newscaster. I'm very glad to see her gone -- hopefully permanently from this market.

BTW, in case you think I'm picking on a particular station, I am not a big Hailey Francis fan either. Her voice is just downright annoying to me. The same goes for weekend anchor Karen Brown on 3TV, although she does come across as intelligent.
