FTV LIVE says Connie Colla is leaving ABC 15

I nominate Kristen Keough to take the morning anchor chair @ GMAZ. A fresh energetic face is just what we need early in the morning and it would be a major improvement over the current snobby occupant.

I don't think Kaley O'Kelley is snobby, but that's my opinion.

Here's an example. I thought that Tara Hitchcock came across as "mean" sometimes. For example, she seemed to be able to "joke" about everyone else on GMAZ. However, when someone joked about her, Tara would quickly cut it off and move on to the next story.

As mentioned in other topics, Tara came across as mean. She complained, on air, about a person who couldn't come into work (thinly veiled at Britney Shipp) and she "would've came in if they asked her" when it was an unwritten rule not to call Tara. Also she 'outed' Tim & Willy by announcing they were leaving their radio show before they were ready to tell everyone.

Thanks. The name rings a bell but the face didn't. I never watched EVB Live. Did catch Jason Volentine subbing for Ryan O'Donnell last Sunday on the GMAZ show. Don't remember seeing him before but he seems pretty smooth.

Jason Volentine was rough. I believe it was his first time anchoring at 3TV, definitely first time working GMAZ Saturday. Jared Dillingham worked Sunday. I didn't see the entire show but he did better than last time a few months ago.

BTW, in case you think I'm picking on a particular station, I am not a big Hailey Francis fan either. Her voice is just downright annoying to me. The same goes for weekend anchor Karen Brown on 3TV, although she does come across as intelligent.[/QUOTE]

We will have to respectfully disagree on KK. I miss her and want her back on the air.

I do agree that Karen Brown has an annoying voice. Personally, intelligence and confidence has not been a problem for me with anchors over the last few years. Attitude and appeal is another matter and is usually as much personal taste as anything else. With all the changes happening and still to come I am sure there will be more changes at both 3 and 5.

Nice goodbye to both Connie and Brandon Hamilton (who is leaving as well) this morning. Sounds like Connie is taking a nice step up in her career. Best of luck to both of them.

They don't need to dictate. It is easy enough to find other "reasons" to dump someone you'd be uncomfortable with having on your staff.

In looking at their twitter feeds it seems that there is quite a bit of fraternization going on. Considering that they are going to see other reporters quite a bit and they have similar jobs it makes a lot of sense that they would talk and hang out together.

I don't doubt that one bit. In my industry it was common to have several "watering holes" where you could drink, fraternize, network and basically keep in touch with what other opportunities were happening. After a couple of poaches by one company from another my bosses got really testy if they found we were hanging out (no social media in those days). Given the cut-throat nature of the TV, radio and news biz I was just wondering whether the same kind of discouragement existed there.

It's not so easy to find "reasons" to dump on air talent when they have contracts...

Any further info on Kaley's status? She's been out the last two days.
They have had Gina Maravilla subbing for her. An audition, perhaps?
Gina has subbed before, and has anchor experience on GMAZ before she left a few years ago.
She would probably make a logical replacement.

Any idea on who will replace Carey P.? Jaime Ceretta is very competent, and very easy on the eyes! ;-)

TV news seems to be a completely different business though. It's very transitory and contract based as KP mentioned and for the on air talent anyway, their work is out their for the world to see. No way for a news director to keep a hidden gem. It's too bad though because it keeps things like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KY5Ug1OW5O4 from becoming a reality. :)
