I guess no one caught this change. It's a shame that another historic three letter call sign has bit the dust. I saw it first on Clay's blog posted on NW Broadcasters. Shame.
Hey, at least they didn't move to call letters like KKMI (Kick Me).
96.9 had been KGY-FM until the switch from Classic Rock to Country. They should have kept the KGY-FM call letters, simply for better name recognition.
Yes, KYYO (Supposedly a replacement for "KAYO", but sounds more like "K-Yo-Yo") just doesn't cut it.
However, I still say KHHO should flip to all Christmas ("K-Ho-Ho") C'mon, it's not like anybody listens to 850 or anything.....
Oh gawd. I remember that. From KYYX ("Kicks", KYYX's original '70s branding)
K-Bup. That could have been a slogan for a top 40 back in the day.
Or it could be called "K-BURP", when the transmitter burps, it dies.

Hey FordRanger797 and anybody else who has ties to Olympia...
New LPFM at 100.3 goes on the air in a week or so in Olympia. OlyRock is 6.3 explosive Watts of Classic Rock Hits from Bush Mountain. Should reach Oly and Tumwater. (Sorry Lacey.)
I'm looking for a couple of people to do weekend voice tracks from the privacy of their own computer. Our weekday guys are staying with us.
No music intros/outros. Voice tracks would be uploaded via MP3 to our FTP server. Mostly a chance to talk to Olympia for 8 shots a day, about 20-90 seconds each. We want friendly, real people who have something to say.
There's no pay. Hey, this is LPFM. But it's a good training ground for those who want to do it for a real audience. Or if you're 'on the beach' and just miss doing it, that works too.
Just send me an audio file of you talking about things that would interest other people. Like when you're talking to a friend, a spouse, a parent, the dog. But it has to be interesting. Funny is good, weird is fine. No celebrity crap, I want real stuff about real people being strange, or strange people being real. Just be INTERESTING! I want cuts that people will sit and listen to all the way to the end just because they want to know how it turns out.
We hope to buld this into a commercial venture by summertime. But for now, it's just for yucks and experience points.
And yeah, we've done this before. We're doing it right now on KZFL Glenoma. Now it's Olympia's turn.
Plese mail me with audition files or questions.

Now if only I could get a voxpro or shortcut for home useFor Voice of Vashon we use Station playlist and the remote Voice tracker option to allow our announcers to work from home or any where the lap top allow them. We tested a few USB mics and the Blue Yeti mic won hands down. You can get one for under $120. Works great for remote voice tracking, very pleasant sounding mic.
