DOB, you questioned why would someone discuss an AM religious station that got a 0.4 rating and ignore some other FM station that got a 3+ rating and they're brand new?
Easy answer: I asked the question because that religious AM station was placed with a station that did have a 4.0 rating and wanted to be sure it was correct for the religious station. As it turned out, the religious station did only get a 0.4 and should have been listed at the bottom of the ratings. Mystery solved.
The other part of the answer is I'm interested in religious radio stations as one of my favorite stations to listen to isn't an OTA station, but an online station called Lutheran Public Radio. Family Radio's beliefs [WDKN 950] I do not agree with, but they play some nice Christian music which I do enjoy. So I'll tune in, especially at Christmas to hear a more worshipful type of Christmas music than the Santa Baby/ Rein Deer / Frosty songs the secular stations tend to favor.
As far as this new FM station is concerned, [1] I didn't know it flipped formats [didn't like its previous format so never listen to the station, plus I definitely do not like Rap "Music" so I'll not be tuning in.
That doesn't make me a racist? Do you like Polkas? If you don't does that make you a racist against Polish people? If Rap floats your boat, that's great for you. My guess is you also don't like the more classical/orchestra/choir sounds of a Family Radio or a Lutheran Public Radio, so does that make you anti-Christian? You may prefer the Urban Gospel music on 1510 WFAI or 1110 WNAP, both play Christian music, but a different style of Christian music than a Family Radio or a Lutheran Public Radio, all serve a segment of the Christian community.
So don't be so fast to label someone a racist, because frankly you may actually be the racist. If you remember the old TV show All in the Family, or course Archie Bunker was a racist, but so was his neighbor George Jefferson. Racism isn't a white only thing. Sadly its part of the human condition.
I like Jazz / Swing music so I like the music of Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald, Dizzy Galaspy, Louis Armstrong, etc, etc, just like I like Artie Shaw, Benny Goodman, Woody Herman [these three were all Jewish by the way], etc, etc. It ain't the color of the person playing the music that makes it good, its the music they created by their God given talent that's good. Color has nothing to do with whether a person is talented, its what they do with that talent that matters.
One man's music is another man's noise. That has nothing to do with race.
So if your FM station is doing well, congratulations. I will never tune in, but that doesn't mean I don't support your right to broadcast that "music" if you choose. Just as I do not like Polkas, but if some radio station owner thinks he/she can make money playing Beer Barrel Polka on the radio, I also support their right to broadcast that too. I hope you'd also give those who choose to broadcast religious music and programming that same respect and support their right to broadcast such programming.
