Since California labor law requires the employer to issue a final paycheck immediately upon termination, the implication was that Charlie was not in the building at the time he received the news of his dismissal. Whether it was an email, phone call or delivered by carrier pigeon, anything less than a face to face meeting with the person responsible for the actual termination, in my opinion is unacceptable and a poor way to treat an employee of charlies stature.
