Are they legit or flying the Jolly Roger?
I cannot find any 411 about them.
Strong all over southern Broward county.
Seventies and eighties music and very good frequency response.
WCNZ, Marco Island?
I have recently become a fan of Grammarly.com, and am following their Facebook posts...LOL...a portable AM receiver which has an internal ferrite antenna, a map and a compass.
Johnnie Vomit?N 64th Ave and Johnson Street.
I know an old jock who lives around there.
I have no idea what you are talking about.
I took two hours and tracked it down to a private house today.
Two of the digits in their street address are the same, and that repeated digit is also contained within their street number.
I will say no more, except that they are only on the air for part of the day and only on weekends, and that their playlist is miniscule.
Google Street view fails to show the microwave dish, so I will suppose that it was added later when the street light was removed.
If anyone reading this is involved with the station, you are welcome to send me a PM:
Click on my screen name, then scroll to "private message", and then go for it.
Lots of undocumented stations program from other than the transmitter complex,
hence the microwave dish.
Their antenna is a vertical which barely clears their one-story house,
and is mounted atop some Rohn 25 or equivalent .
It consists of about fifteen feet of a coil within a fiberglass sheath and a fifteen foot whip above it.
They sound like a local station out to about five or six miles
and are fairly listenable out to that again.
Soon after that, WCNZ starts QRMing them.
They sound like they are shooting out several hundred watts.
If it were mine, I would zero beat the carrier to WCNZ,
because a fading heterodyne is more objectionable than foreign audio sneaking in.
