I think one reason for not going local is that there is going to be backlash against whatever airs in the morning no matter what. That's bad no matter what, but at least with something national, nobody cares if it flops. If it's local, somebody is walking into a mess that is doomed from the beginning. Perhaps once all of this blows over (if the current format on 102.3 even survives that long, it's obvious that things aren't going nearly as well as they once were there), they can throw something different on that is local and people will have forgotten about Lynda and Eric. But if Lynda Lambert can't do it for their mornings, I can't help but to wonder who can. Just for fun, go to their Facebook page, where they posted the "exciting news" today. The reaction from listeners was pretty predictable, and definitely not what they'd want to hear. The most "positive" response was somebody who said that they are familiar with the show and it is a decent show, but they'd still rather have a local show.
I just don't quite understand what is going on at 102.3. They had things going on there that worked for over a decade, then George leaves and everything just goes to crap. I used to love their take on the Hot AC format, it actually was a more "adult" format than the usual Hot AC, their playlist included some good stuff that you couldn't hear elsewhere, and while I know the format is more of a female targeted format, they didn't exactly feel like the "ladies" station. Now they just sound like a clone of 100.5 or 99.7 even sometimes. Luckily, 106.9 has sort of shifted their focus a bit lately to sound a lot like how The Max DID sound up until the past year, and oddly enough, they've even got Jesse on the morning show now. It seems that he got the better end of that deal by being let go at The Max...
