Status of "Harry"

IMO, this move by major affiliates to 2pm is desperation. I don't really get the whole New Orleans vibe of this show, yeah it's fun and all, but not very mainstream. Again, just IMO.

Well, the NOLA location answers the question "what the hell does 'it's y'alls party' mean"?

An hour of a Bourbon Street vagrant telling tourists "betcha I can tell you where you got dem shoes?" would be far more entertaining.

Harry Connick Jr. is a musician/singer/songwriter, not a talk show host. Based on his ratings (0.82 season-to-date in households), I'll be shocked if he's renewed for 2017-18.

I haven't watched his show (just the adverts) and have only heard a smattering of his music but also wondered why the change in careers for him? Doesn't sound in any way like a normal move.

As badly as "Harry" is doing, it's doing three times the numbers "TD Jakes" (which Tegna has foisted on its stations) is doing (900K vs 300K.) I also wonder if "Harry" will see a second season. It's tough to launch a new talk show in this current market, which is why so few of them even get to national syndication. On my local stations (WCSH/WLBZ) they're double-running it at 3PM and 3AM Seems like a waste to me, especially with WCSH/WLBZ pre-empting "Inside Edition" at 7:30P so often for Thursday Night Football and other special programming.

Because TD Jakes is not in NY or LA. There's a huge difference.

My local ABC station (WGTU/WGTQ) airs a double run of Harry at 9am and 5pm, while Maury (which should be airing in one of those slots IMHO) is pushed to late night.

WGTU's first run of Harry is actually at 10am, but according to the TV guide, the same episode is airing at both times (10am and 5pm)!

Even if Harry is a flop, pushing Maury to late night is a definite improvement. The only thing better would be to push it off the schedule completely.

WVIT-TV (NBC) channel 30 of New Britain/Hartford airs it at 1 PM Eastern. I've never watched it, so I can't give an opinion.

The man is a fabulously talented musician.

The fact that he has stooped to hosting another trashy daytime talk show is sad.
The fact that TV executives think audiences would rather see him do that than perform his music is even sadder.

Harry is not a trash talk show. The Robert Irvine Show is another trash talk show.

Harry is a regular, general talk show, like Ellen DeGeneres and Wendy Williams. He is no Maury/Jerry Springer/Steve Wilkos.
