In my hometown, Charleston, South Carolina, the cable system has remained mostly the same over the last 40 years. Storer Cable built the system here in the mid to late 1970s, but it was bought out by Comcast in 1994. When the system started, the fee was $5.75 a month, with $7.50 installation fee.
