Considering how AMP did, I'll be curious to see how Smith screws up WOGL....
What does one have to do with the other? AMP faced an established competitor in its format, coming off a history of being an also-ran with limited promotion and support. Perhaps, given what they were able to do under those conditions, I look forward to what he can do to with an established, successful station to keep it going well into the future? (Glass half full)
I am afraid that, somehow, he will change WOGL enough that it will start losing audience, ratings, and billing.
WOGL definitely needs to freshen up, as I am tired of hearing the same basic style for the last 10 years.
WOGL is one of the nation's best performing Classic Hits stations. It currently averages 4th or 5th in 35-54 (multi-book average) It bills very well, tied for third in the market (as opposed to often discussed WRFF which WOGL outbills by nearly 5 to 1).
Other than rather subtle changes in the era map of the library to avoid getting too old-leaning, why would they want to change anything?
Agreed......They are #1, why change anything? If it works....don't fix it. Or does Fakeem want WOGL to sound like their "other" counterparts? It should be left alone.

The best way to keep the station from ageing is to focus on welcoming in those who age into their target demos. That generally means a periodic flushing of the oldest and weakest songs.

Maybe I missed something, as I haven't heard anything on Philly radio that would be considered a counterpart. If I did, I would have at least given them a listen. Don't assume things.
On an aside, after my strokes, I limited my radio listening time, so if there are OTA alternatives to WOGL, please tell me what they are. The last station I listened to for older music before WOGL was WDAS-AM, up until Butterball's death, then WOGL became my default station. I was very surprised by their selection, and rarely listened elsewhere. Lift Me Up Buttercup is one of the few songs they played that got me to switch channels. I am very open-minded musically, as I was raised listening to everything from classical to pop to standards to R&B to country....you get the drift.

All still on the website it appears. It looks like now Cadillac Jack is out at WOGL and I am also not seeing Harvey Holiday on the website. I am not understanding what is going on with the station? They have very good ratings and according to David, they also bill near the top. Are they going to change formats??? I am really disgusted with this station.
He confirmed this on FB. I know they merged with Entercom...but their ratings were excellent. Not sure why they are doing this. Do you think they are possibly going to flip the station or is this just cost cutting. I really liked him and am very upset by WOGL doing this. They have gotten rid of Ross Brittian, Bob Charger, Valerie Knight, Tommy McCarthy and now Cadillac Jack. I think Harvey Holiday is still with the station. I like the fact that they are playing a lot more 80s now, but this moved was ridiculous. Any ideas???
