92.3 translator now rebroadcasting KYOK 1140

I couldn't care less about the format - these translators, specifically K287BQ, are impeding on full-power licensed stations. If I tune my radio to 105.3 while in the licensed service contour of KTWL, I want to hear KTWL, not some illegally overpowered translator.

Well, that pattern would hit Hillcroft/Mahatma Gandhi District quite nicely and a chunk of Sugar Land and Mo City, which is exactly where the audience lives. It's also pointed in the opposite direction from anyplace that could realistically pick up KTWL.

I'm pretty sure you don't care about the format "sarcasm "

The complaints are for the format not for the coverage area. I'm pretty sure of it, if it would appeal to you and others it would not matter how much KTWL is affected.

One thing is to prove, with field strength readings, any illegal operation of a translator. But the other thing is to recognize that KTWL barely has any protected contour coverage in Harris County except in that little "horn" in the far NW upper corner of the county, and the translator, in south central Harris County, comes nowhere near intruding on that protected service area.

Right, I'm just wondering why they're so hellbent on broadcasting at such high power to where K287BQ is receivable in Montgomery County, where I'm fairly certain there is no audience for their format... Guess it's just an ego thing.

Yes, it does as far as we're concerned.
I've experienced a lot of choppiness inside the translator's 60 dbu contour with KJOJ and the translator going back and forth. It makes for an odd listening experience.

Not surprised this happen to be honest. Is there really no other open channel available for use? 92.5 is **supposed to be** open due to the translator's newest directional pattern. Wouldn't squeezing in between that and an LPFM be easier than trying to fight a 100kw station?

Certainly understood. The translator *does* impede on the protected service contour, however. I have confirmed that K287BQ completely overrides KTWL at several points going West on Highway 290, KTWL only starts becoming marginally listenable once you reach the point where Highways 6 and 290 meet.

Why do you spend your time telling some people about how these stations aren't foreign? These are the same people that I'm pretty sure they're complaining about how K287bq is reaching Spring Tx. I'm pretty sure if it had a OLDIES format this wouldn't had been the same case.
So we should all shut up because the station that causes interference happens to target minorities? What kind of weird logic is that?

Put the race card away, homie. You know damn well K287BQ is causing interference. That's a valid issue to discuss, especially since the FCC has set rules and has precedents that protect full time radio stations.

The station could be playing Lee Greenwood's "God Bless the USA" on loop, and it still would cause interference and complains from KTWL's listener base.

If there is interference, even outside the protected contour, it's up to the affected station to get its listeners to complain to the FCC. There is plenty of precedent, particularly in the case of the Hazard, KY, station that got a Lexington, KY, translator silenced for interference as far out as the 45 dbu signal area.

If overpower operation is suspected, then the station can get an engineering statement based on field strength readings and file a complaint with the FCC.

Long standing issue with him. It gets really old. If it ain't English, its foreign language station - but not a foreign station. I think most of us are sick of the doctrine war between the two Spanish language churches, where the grab every frequency they can possibly grab to keep the other - and their doctrine - off the air. It is NOT using the frequencies in the public interest, that is for sure. They aren't motivated by helping people to find Christ. They are only motivated in keeping the other group off the air. I think both groups should be banned from the airwaves except for one frequency near their own church - and let some true diversity return to the air waves. It might end up being radio jihad or some other garbage, but it least it wouldn't be the same churches over and over again.

If there is interference, even outside the protected contour, it's up to the affected station to get its listeners to complain to the FCC.
And it's already been shut down once. Yet the FCC allowed it back on the air with minor modifications thinking everything would be alright. Facepalm.

When KTWL posted on their page that the FCC approved a station in Houston and asking people to fill a complaint to the FCC about it they didn't say THE FCC approved a station in HOUSTON.

They said THE FCC HAS APPROVED A SPANISH LANGUAGE STATION IN HOUSTON. So the Race card was thrown way before I did. Can't wait till another Tornato comes and knocks their tower again like it did in JUNE 2016.

Or when Mr Henderson sales it and it becomes in Spanish. Karma sucks!!

That is just an awful thing to wish upon a broadcaster, especially one who runs a small operation. How would you feel if someone said the same thing about a tornado hitting your house? You need to reevaluate life. Nobody on this board has wished harm to anyone and/or their property until you came along. It's classless and it speaks volumes about your character.

Just awful.

Have you ever listened to KTWL? They are very welcoming of minority artists who are ignored by mainstream radio stations. Some of those artists are Hispanic or use mexican/tejano influences in their acts. Texas Tornados, Roger Creager, Tish Hinojosa, The TexMex Experience, Flaco Jimenez (independent), Rick Trevino, etc are all artists who are either Hispanic or use a bit of Hispanic flavor in their music. KILT and KKBQ would never play their music, yet KTWL doesn't hesitate to give them airplay. Heck, KTWL even plays some Spanish language songs from time to time, so it speaks volumes of your ignorance. But hey, at least your wish is already reality.

KTWL is the last station you should be pulling the race card on. Stop acting like a snowflake who is offended by everything. There was absolutely NOTHING wrong with what they said. NOTHING. Stop looking for ways to be offended.
