KYW

I guess I shouldn't be surprised by this, but ...
Did anyone notice that the 5 pm edition of Reporters Roundup on KYW appears to be completely pre-recorded some days with the only exception being the traffic reports? How you can tell: No time checks, no current temperatures given by the anchor throughout the entire half hour. This is in afternoon drive.
Less surprising: Use of the first three minutes of CBS News on the hour starting at 11 pm, also the one minutes CBS update at 31 minutes after the hour. And also after 11 pm: All local news segments with exception of traffic and sports appear to be pre-recorded.
I also read online that a new public affairs show will air Sunday mornings at 8:30 a.m., another addition to the other weekend programs that already air in place of the usual half-hour news format, along with CBS Evening News weeknights at 6:30 and 8:00 p.m. and Eyewitness News on CW57 at 10 pm.
I guess this is the future for KYW. They've cut back staff (the exception being they actually hired traffic reporters). Elsewhere on the web they explain this is cost-cutting before the CBS/Entercom merger.

This is really a shame. Weeknights they run audio for a national television news program TWICE? And then they run audio for a local television news show at 10pm? Why would I want to listen to anchors talking about video I can't see?

Do they still let listeners know who's "at the editor's desk" or do they mention the name of a 17-year-old who's in charge running the board?

A slight addendum to my original post. I think I figured out what's going on with the 5 pm RR. I usually listen to the first part of the 5 pm Reporters Roundup while I'm driving home from work. I don't usually hear the end of the program, but I did yesterday, and heard the anchor promote that RR airs weekdays at 12:30, 3:30, 5 AND 9 PM. The 9 pm is new. I think this is what's going on: The 5 pm is still live, but the live anchor is avoiding any time references so it can play back at 9 pm. To accomplish that, the live version at 5 pm is being done without time checks and current temperatures. The anchor doesn't even say the traffic reporter's name anymore because a different traffic reporter is on at 9 pm than the one who is on at 5 pm.
So, to sum up weekday evenings these days on KYW:
5-5:30: RR mostly live (some reporter debriefs are pre-recorded) but adjustments have been made so it can be played back at 9 pm
6:30-7 pm: CBS Evening News
8:00-8:30 CBS Evening News (again)
9:00-9:30: Reporters Roundup as it aired at 5 pm
10-10:30: Eyewitness News on CW57
11 pm on: Local news segments appear to be recorded.

I guess I can't blame them, in one way. They've taken the most expensive to produce format on radio (all news) and found ways to cut back on anchors while still maintaining a sizable reporting staff. And if the monthly ratings that are made public are any indication, it doesn't appear to be having a major effect on ratings overall.

They still mention who is at the editor's desk. They haven't mentioned "our engineer" in a long time. The anchor has been running the board themselves for quite a while.
