First, my condolences to all who have been impacted by this tragedy.
One of the important functions of this site, IMO, is how the media brings us stories like this. Here are a few items I observed today: (all times Pacific)
ABC, NBC, CBS all wall to wall most of the morning. However, CBS was the first to go back to local programming at 9AM, so "Harry" was on in my market. I don't know if CBS coverage continued and the affiliates had the option of carrying or not, but I have never heard of this happening. Price Is Right, (network) followed at 10AM. Evening network news will run a full hour on ABC, but again this could be optional for affiliates.
CNN, as expected was only focused on this story, while FoxNews did mostly the same but also briefly covered other stories. During FoxNews "The Five" (which recently returned to its original 2pm slot (5 pm eastern) was mostly serious but as this show tends to do there were moments of levity. Too soon?
So far my Directv lineup doesn't show any prime-time programming changes for tonight, nor do the actual network websites but that could change, either for tonight or tomorrow night.
Overall, good reporting by the major networks. And some excellent exposure of how the responders were the real heros.
