KMPS is now 94.1 The Sound

...and The Sound plays Kokomo! Why wouldn't they?
But back to the topic at hand. I'm hoping Delilah will air weeknights on the new 'Sound.' That might really boost the ratings, since she lives and records the show in Kitsap County, and she's been missing so long from the FM dials here. No one in the Puget Sound has aired her since late 2014 when KAFE dumped her (KRWM dumped her in July 2014 for a local DJ).

Probably because her numbers have been steadily declining, and the station has to give up inventory for her show.
Is she even back on the air with a recent show? Last I heard, Delilah was taking time to recover from a loss in her family, with talk of retiring permanently.

Delilah is back on doing new shows for Christmas, no plans to retire. As for "working for the compitition", her San Diego affiliate is an Entercom station.

What's missing in that, and in about 99% of the "here's why [this show] should be resurrected" comments? What the audience thinks. WHAT A CONCEPT!

Listeners don't care whether she is in Kitsap County, L.A. or Uzbekistan. If the content is good and appealing, then the listeners (and therefore the affiliates) will come.

Well there it is: If they can't get Delilah for one reason or another, they can always hire her Uzbek radio counterpart. Problem solved.

Thanks for the chuckle, Larry!
I heard 'All Around the World' Lisa Stansfield this morning on KSWD. Haven't heard that in several years, used to be in the playlist rotation when 98.9 was KWJZ. Kool & The Gang's 'Cherish,' 'Sometimes When We Touch' Dan Hill etc. also heard in the 90 minutes that I listened. And I don't think I've seen one GOOD comment on their facebook page. At least I'm enjoying it, along with the Christmas music from other stations.

Yep...all the soft hits we grew up with and more!

That situation may change with the addition of the CBS stations.

Where are you seeing information that that might change? Although they dropped her in 2012, KOSI carried Delila under Entercom's ownership. I'm not sure if she's still on in Austin, but she was last time I checked, though admittedly that was five years or more ago. As far as I know, she was on WLTE and KVIL for some time, and is still on KXLT and KMGL. Note, none of the stations I've mentioned are iHeart, though they're in all of those markets except Boise. That of course doesn't guarantee Delila will come back to Seattle, but simply a question of ownership doesn't rule it out either as you're suggesting.

Entercom just bought CBS Radio. That completely changes their business model. What they used to do will change at some point.

Crainbo asked about "Brown Eyed Girl." Well, KMPS just played "Moondance" by Van Morrison. I was thinking, is this the oldest song KMPS plays, a song from the 1960s? I looked it up on Wikipedia. It comes from the 1970 album "Moondance." So it does beat "Mercy Mercy Me" from Marvin Gaye by one year. And it also means KMPS is not playing anything from the 60s, at least not yet.

Interestingly, Moondance was not released as a single until 1977 and it only peaked at #92. So it really is an album cut, even though it gets played on Soft AC, Classic Hits and Classic Rock stations. If they get around to "Brown Eyed Girl," that would be a 1960s song, 1967 specifically.

When it comes to playing current hits or anything from the 2000s, some Soft AC stations do, and some don't. WDUV Tampa doesn't play anything post-2000. But that may because it is co-owned with Tampa's AC station, WWRM. So I suppose Cox wants to keep post-2000 music on WWRM only. But the other Soft ACs, WFEZ and KISQ, do play a few post-2000 songs per hour.

Once again, this is not a classic hits station, so chart position doesn't matter. This is a song that got tons of AOR airplay in the 70s, as well as AC.

And this is not Tampa, Miami, Boston, Chicago or L.A. This is Seattle. What passes as top testing music there doesn't here.

If the Righteous Brothers' "Unchained Melody" shows up, it might count as a '60s song, depending upon which version gets played, the 1965 original or the 1990 re-recording done after the song was featured in the hit movie "Ghost." Both got plenty of airplay in 1990, and the song was a mainstay of soft AC for many years.

KKMJ dropped her at least 2 years ago. Entercom’s San Diego station dropped her when it went from KIFM to KXSN or shortly afterward.

WLTE dropped her shortly before it switched to country. KVIL, I believe, was the last of the CBS stations to drop her. The biggest problem for Delilah has been that PPM has been absolutely brutal to her. I understand she may now have a shorter break version of her show, but I've never been a fan. So, I couldn’t tell you for certain. As you might have guessed, I personally hope The Sound doesn’t add her, but, like Delilah, I'm really not in its target demo. Usually, carrying Delilah is a drop dead dealbreaker for me, and I delete almost any station that carries her. I do, however, keep KISQ on my favorites because she doesn’t come on until 10:00 my time. With the possible exception of Hannity, there isn’t a show I'd rather listen to less.
