KMPS is now 94.1 The Sound

Even if you like the music mix the rest of the day? Really? Such hate!

Almost all of my soft music listening occurs after work. So, there really isn’t a “rest of the day” to me. If it's an East Coast station, it'll be airing Delilah within an hour of my leaving work. I see little point in favoriting a station I only find listenable for an hour or two a few days a week.

I completely agree with the Smash Hits statement. If you're fgoing to call it Smash Hits, then everything excep for maybe the lost hit once an hour should be familiar, which wasn't the case in the hour I had the Rapid City station on about two years ago.

I listened to KMPS this morning...."Relaxing favorites at work".....

This. Is. Saturday.

And the 1960s are now on 'The Sound'. They're playing Unchained Melody by The Righteous Brothers right now, from 1965! I wonder if Brown Eyed Girl is on the playlist after all.
They are hiring too! A PD is wanted. https://www.ziprecruiter.com/ojob/98256a4b4d8b98eed619ce6c7a08f449

I mentioned "Unchained Melody" a few pages back. Are they playing the 1965 original recording or the 1990 "Ghost" re-recording? If the latter, then make it a '60s song with a big asterisk!

They wouldn't play the re-recording because hardly anyone knows it. It was the original recording that was in "Ghost" and that's the one that was all over everything for the next 15 years or so.

The rerecording got serious airplay in its day. And you're right, the original was in "Ghost." The rerecording was done to update the sound.

KSWD doesn't play the original version of Thompson Twins "Hold Me Now" either.

I'm finding the more I listed to KSWD the more it sounds like many of my mixtapes I created in 80s and then created on CD in the 90s and now playlists on my MP3 player. I love this station. I heard Jewel's you were meant for me. She and that song were huge in 1996. BTW I was dedicated listener of KMPS in the early 90s (went through a country music phase and still love that era of music), so I am also said to see that station go.

Was listening this morning and heard "KSWD and KSWD HD1 Seattle"...so officially, KMPS is dead.

What KSWD was previously used for Entercom's 100.3FM in Los Angeles. But Entercom had to Sell 100.3 FM to get the former CBS Radio affiliates in the LA Market.

The KSWD Mascot

Looking through the radio social media pages, I see KSWD has a mascot. This lady.

Now appearing next to the 94.1 The Sound booth in her Wayfair wingback chair, iPad knockoff in her lap, botox smile. And ecstatic, yet unnervingly catatonic stare off into the general direction of Alpha Centauri, she's the most exciting thing in Seattle radio mascots since the KISW Duck. She embodies exactly what it means to be a KSWD listener. She's thirtysomething, she's proud of her armpits. And her sports bra just can't contain the feeling she gets when she hears "Hey There Delilah".
