KPPC-LP moving to 105.9

San Antonio Radioworks filed an objection to KPPC's move, complaining about their 105.9 FM in The Dominion...

On the other side of this KPPC replies saying their new location will allow them to save money, and San Antonio Radioworks has another translator near KPPC's area...

Both SA Radioworks and KPPC play similar genres of music.

I'm not sure what made SA Radioworks jump on the LPFM like that when SA Radioworks has a lot more coverage.

Sometimes the mindset is that any action, even insignificant, encourages other broadcasters on the same or nearby frequencies to take a look. One of the others might actually cause a diminished coverage area, so to speak. So, by objecting it says you'd be creating a battle by trying anything. When KYND filed for 2 watts at night in Houston, it was KOKC in Oklahoma City that objected. They had a good angle and were successful.

So does that mean that there coverage area will only cover outside Loop 1604 past Universal City? It would make since to have the station be listenable at it's physical location off Foster Rd. But looking at the coverage map you would have to drive quite a few miles from the Church to be able to listen to it. Or is that red circle on the FCC map in addition to the existing coverage area? I see the blue circle as there existing coverage area. Or will it be heard on both 96.9 and 105.9?

As far as 105.9 is concerned I only have to change from 103.7 to 105.9 on my cell phone (which has a built in FM radio) if I am in the Medical Center or NW San Antonio area of town.

Their new location I believe is further northeast and at a lower height, on 105.9. When KPPC moves it will no longer be on 96.9.
If I were them I would have left the antenna on the church roof like it was originally, but maybe they're concerned because of a fire hazard?

Another thing the KAHL translator on 100.7 that rebroadcasts with 103.7 and 105.9 and AM 1310 has been dead air these past few days. Maybe SA Radioworks is moving it soon.
As for KAHL I think they should move the format more into smooth jazz and less into the crooner music.

KPPC 96.9 is now in stereo instead of mono (it was mono since it started up). Stereo is much better.

Actually, I wouldn't mind if the FCC didn't accept KPPC's move. It will move KPPC away from my location a bit, and further from the center of town. KPPC still does local radio and I'm hearing different church members of all ages recording liners. They play lots of oldies KONO and KAHL don't play.

FM transmission antennas are not fire hazard at the kind of power an LPFM runs The systems are very simple and they are not a risk factor.

The change in frequency and transmitter location has to do with the station needing to move due to interference issues. LPFMs and translators are the lowest type of station in terms of protection.

Only interference I get to KPPC-LP not during tropo is KXTJ-LP, and that's because KXTJ-LP is illegally overpowering it's signal, unless they've lowered the height by now.

KXTJ must revert to the original antenna height, power as specified on their current license and not operate with the current setup on the 100ft tower. KXTJ never filed for a license of the permit that expired

they have been operating at the cp height and power for many months and will need now to reduce to the currently licensed height and power. they are currently illegal

Even if they are illegal it's not like the FCC is going to do anything?

Application Dismissed: 02/12/2019
Sorry, KPPC-LP.

Maybe KPPC can work something out with San Antonio Radioworks... And refile.

The move was denied because LPFM's can only make a move of 5.6km and have it be a minor change. Their propsoed move is 12km.
