WIVK came in second in the 12-plus ratings.
Midwest is a very good small radio company that knows what it's doing. For many years, WIVK's country format went unchallenged. Now Midwest has been nibbling at WIVK's heritage with a classic country station, while Scripps is attacking the younger listeners. The Duke is really growing, and is playing an interesting mix of 70s and 80s country. Not clear if they're making money, but they're drawing enough listeners away from WIVK so that their co-owned AC station can win the ratings crown.
I mean Cumulus easily could have plugged Nash Mornings or whatever it's called into that slot
Midwest Classic Rocker WIMZ nipped WIVK in the overall 12+; someone in the know posted on Facebook that Opie Joe on WCYQ is now the #1 country morning show in town (followed by a binch of commplaints about the team that replaced Andy & Allison on WIVK...I mean Cumulus easily could have plugged Nash Mornings or whatever it's called into that slot). All bets are off if/when the Scripps cluster sells.
