It has been a minute since 93.1 the fox went away. I know it still exists online but not the same. It doesn't seem like anyone is in a hurry to put 1 on the air. Its sad. I say blow up 93.1 back to current rock.

Does anyone think louisville will ever get a current rock station?

Totally agree.The Fox should have never left 100.5
I like hip hop and all nuttin against the format but B 96.5 will do just fine for all ur hip hop needs. Put a current rock station on 93.1 or 100.5 doesn't have to be the fox. Or make QMF all current rock or 102.3 once jack has run it's course. Or 105.1

Rock is a spent force. It had a nice, long ride but more rhythmic genres have pushed into niche status.
That's true. A lot of the listeners who would have been Rock fans once upon a time are now listening to Country. A lot of the new Country tunes actually sound like Rock from the 70's and 80's.
Yes NYC city does but it depends how you define current rock. Entercom last November when they took over the Cbs stations flipped amp radio 92.3 the old Howard stern station from CHR to Alternative rock ALT 92.3. But ur right no mainstream current rock station is in NYC currently.
If you look at the music played at Alt92.3, it's a similar combination of currents and older music that is now heard on 95.7QMF. Obviously that combination is working well right now in Louisville.
Hip-hop has also made significant inroads in non-ethnic suburbia, which used to be rock's sweet spot.
Hardly look at alt 92.3 playlist. QMF does not and I repeat does not play alot of this music. A bit n i mean bit of overlapping but not much.The two stations arent much alike. Qmf

Sorry i reread what you said. I thought u meant the stations play some of the same songs. Dont know what i was thinking. But i would still rather see a current rock station in louisville.Qmf doesnt play anything current.
If you're waiting for Louisville radio to get better playlists and formats, forget it as long as the current owners and investment firms are in this market. You want a nice variety of formats new and old, get a Sirius subscription. I don't have to endure 6-8 minute commercial sets, listen to babbling beginner sounding jocks, and sit through 5 bad songs to hear a good one.
Then again, you pay $15 a month and deal with their low quality audio. And with regards to ownership, the company that owns Sirius is looking to buy iHeart, So it's very possible that they will be owned by the same company soon.
I finally gave up on SiriusXM, too. The product is quite good, but the price kept going up and up. Now, I have a Pandora Premium subscription. For $9.99/month, I'm completely in control of what I hear, never have to endure a bad song, and never have to listen to another poorly-produced local erectile dysfunction commercial.
BTW, you mentioned that the same company (Liberty Media) controls SiriusXM and is kicking the tires of a potential iHeartMedia acquisition. They also own a substantial minority stake in Pandora. Welcome to the media world of 2018.

I find Sirius to be easy to negotiate with on price. They usually are willing to give a customer a deal as opposed to losing them. Pandora sounds like a good option for the price you said you pay. But if you want to build some really good playlists, you can go to the Sirius back door website (http://www.dogstarradio.com/) and design playlists for your mp3 player that won't cost a nickel if you already have the songs or know of free downloads.
I'm not sure what would happen if Liberty Media aquires Iheart, but hopefully it would be better local radio than the garbage we have now. What these crappy companies don't know is listeners have been exposed to pretty good radio through the years here locally. It's such a let down now to turn on boring, cookie cutter, safe, cost cutting sounding, automated radio.
Of course, what do you think Pandora & Sirius are? No humans involved. It's totally automated.
yes the bandwidth on Sirius is low quality

yes but without the irritating endless iheartradio app commercials and 18 minutes of commercials an hour. Pandora is designed to sound automated and Sirius does have dj's and some may even be live as there is current content. Radio needs to be there for people with Pandora and Ipod fatigue, not trying to sound just like them to save money.
