Is Megyn out at Today?

That's a little different. With the exception of lighter skin, Armisen bears a passing resemblance to Obama. He has dark hair, is fairly dark complected - and I believe, is part Latino. In fact, I just googled some pics of him playing Obama and I don't think they put any dark make-up on him.

Armisen did wear "darker makeup" when he played Obama, at least during the campaign and in the first few months of the show:

This morning brought no real surprises. The main Today lineup hosting the 3rd hour from the old Megyn studio (I believe), but with obviously a different backdrop and of course, no audience.

I don't believe this to be the final incarnation of this hour. Stay tuned!

Honestly, what she said, in the context of asking a question was not bad or wrong. Any excuse to dump her would've been seized upon. I've never been much of a fan of hers, but I can sympathize when someone is getting piled on the way she is. Seatownmedia is correct that there will be major changes to the third hour. I wonder if it would help Hota to pull the 4th hour into the 3rd. Since she is hosting the first two hours, if she could just continue into the 3rd hour and be off the air for the rest of the day, it might make for an easier schedule for her. This might influence what happens to Kelly's former time slot.

Kathy Lee and Hoda (minus Hoda), did great in the Megyn Kelly Studio with an audience during the olympics. I'd say give them the hour in 6A.

Will be interesting to watch NBC try to repair their flagship morning show. Probably continue through the holidays with the patch-up 9AM hour with regular hosts holding down the fort. Should see a new approach in early 2019.

I don't think they have to patch anything up. This was a very narrow problem, so once its gone, people will just continue to watch the show with whoever hosts. They could easily turn it over to Al Roker. He's an entertaining guy who could hold down an hour a day with a co-host. People are looking for entertainment at that hour, and that's why Megyn didn't work. She wasn't an entertainer. But if they replace her with an entertainer, things will be fine.

So you are saying no damage has been done with Megyn? I would politely disagree. I think the 3rd hour is going to be a tough rating hole to fill based on her failure. Of course, moving Kathy Lee and Hoda back there would probably be a good stop-gap.

I think Megyn did damage, but mainly to herself. I don't think she was ever really identified with the Today franchise. She was sort of her own thing, jammed in between the regular show. Her hour wasn't anything like the rest of the show that surrounded her. It was an interruption in the flow. Pulling that interruption out is like unclogging a stuck drain. Once the clog is removed, the water will flow freely.

Agreed. And your plumbing reference is spot on. Nice.

I will say, IMO, that NBC was looking for any excuse to get rid of her, and her "blackface" remarks were simply a means to an end.

She could fit on the CBS morning show, then.

How did you reach that conclusion? I can't see CBS wanting to touch Kelly with a ten-foot Festivus pole. Her presence on CBS could be a lighting rod (pardon the mixed metaphors) for controversy, which networks are usually OK with IF it results in improved ratings. But IMO, Kelly's time at NBC illustrates that she was a one-trick Fox pony (there I go mixing metaphors again), who couldn't turn her chance at the "big time" into a ratings success.

If there was ever a slight hope that Megyn could be reassigned within NBC, it is now gone.

The damage was done when Today went to 4 hours. That happened long before Megyn got there. If anything The Megyn Today show made it worse by breaking up the flow. I would Drop the forth hour. Move Kathy-Lee and Hoda to 9 and give 10 back to the locals.

What else is on at 9AM? Take a look over at ABC. Would you want to go head to head with them? I wouldn't.

Anything that Today puts at 9AM will be a throwaway. I'd suggest repeating the first hour.

Are there ratings still as good as they once were? I think Kathy-lee and Hoda have built up enough of a following to be able to compete.

Hard to compare, since Live is syndicated and Today is network. But Live is one of the highest rated daytime syndicated shows, just behind Dr. Phil.

It would be interesting since Kathy Lee was the previous co-host of Live. Not sure if she would want to risk coming in #2 to her old show.

If her only problem was not being "entertainment", then.
