BTW: No one should take any of what I'm saying to indicate that I don't like BEN-FM. They're one of the few relatively fun-sounding stations we have left who are willing to do cute things like BRYCE-FM and other such stunts. I'm just saying the stunt they did yesterday likely did more harm than good. Being that they're the least-listened-to in the cluster, I think they have a bit of leeway to have fun with 95.7 and that definitely helps make things interesting!

Are people talking about it? Yes. Mission accomplished.
Sure they can keep on doing the same thing they do every day, or they can change things for a day and get people talking. Aren't you the same guy who complains about radio being boring?
You are comin in kinda hot here, dude. I'm not interested in arguing with you (or anyone else). I'll agree that their mission is accomplished if their intended mission was to get a few radio geeks on the internet talking about it. (Again: Pointless.) Let's just agree to disagree.
For what it's worth, they got Bob Kelley of Fox 29 and some news crew (I forget which station....the memory ain't what it used to be) talking about the stunt on social media. What it's worth may be nothing. But I'm not sure the downside risk on April Fools is terribly steep, for the way they did it. But wouldn't it be fascinating to dig into the PPM data and study any anomies from 4/1 vis a vis Ben?
On the gag topic, off the top of my head, I can't remember the last time a station in town tried a format change Apri Fools stunt before reverting to regular format. Going back decades, I recall Power 99 doing it--not sure what the gag format was. But it doesn't feel like it's been overplayed here.
Now if they'd brought back WFLN format day, THAT would have been a different story.

On Groundhog Day this year, I read about a station that played the same playlist hour after hour after hour. The same songs in the same order but the catch was that they were performed by different artists. Not an easy stunt to pull as you'd have to find 9 or 10 songs that have all been covered by several artists. I thought that was pretty damn clever! It obviously wasn't BEN-FM who did it but I'd say that's pretty good stunt for them to think about for next year!
No argument, it's their radio station, and they're playing anything they feel like. We're all just observers.
One observation since the day o' TV themes: While they still heavily use the slogan "Playing Anything We Feel Like"... I've also heard them use the slogan "Playing fun hits from the 80s and 90s"
As far as I remember, that's the first time I've heard them ever use a decade specific slogan (competing with WOGL's "Nobody Plays more 80s"?). Also, I don't remember how much 70s music they played before yesterday, so I don't know if that's a serious cut from their library.

I've heard that 80s/90s reference for several weeks now at least, possibly longer...gets a little fuzzy First use of years as a slogan, or variation of one I do believe you're correct. Certainly they've made both decades centerpieces of theme weekends and such. 70s never felt like it was that big a presence--there over the years, but more on the fringe from my perception. Then again, currents (or at least close to it) were periodically included. The mix has always been fluid. As of tonight, recently played includes Le Freak by Chic...so the 70s live on.
