Ron & Don are BACK!!

A lot of local DJs have done this after getting dropped from radio. It's a commitment without much of a return.

Although these two implying that they'll dish some dirt on KIRO (Episode 1 -- What Really Happened at KIRO?) should get them a decent audience for the premiere. Of course, it may also represent a bridge burnt beyond repair if they ever want to work in Seattle radio -- or any large market - again.

I wish them best, but what a classic radio scenario: Suddenly lose decade old radio gig, get real estate license, massage wounded ego's by doing a podcast.

And let’s not forget car dealerships as well. Definitely know more than a couple people “on the beach” who had to pay the bills, worked selling cars, and actually made far better money. Still missed talking into a mic for a living, though.

They have likely contacted other stations already and come up empty, hence the podcast angle.

After they get the KIRO thing out of their system, if they focus on compelling content they could do something good on podcasts. It's all up to them.

I liked Ron and Don, but wasn't crazy about them, but I think they may have unfairly treated. Look at how they treat Dave Ross. A few minutes on air here and there. KIRO are more bent on becoming a rightwing station. I have only listened sporadically over the years. Loved Pat Cashman, Dave Ross, and Dori until he turned into Rush Jr. REALLY liked the late Bill Gallant. No liberal talk in Seattle anymore that I can find.

Dave Ross just "a few minutes on the air here and there"? Last time I checked, he was one of the two morning hosts. 5 a.m. to 9 a.m. -- Every weekday.

The two guys that come on after them are middle of the road -- definitely not conservative talkers. One of them leans more conservative than the other, but it's give and take on that show.

You're correct that there are no liberal talkers here in Seattle. Don't know why that is. KPTK 1090 ended up a bust. No one was listening, although I did for a couple years, and I'm not particularly liberal.

Thom Hartmann was also on a station in Lakewood, in the Tacoma area, for several years. KLAY 1180, now a Catholic station.

I just listened to their first podcast. Were their ratings really that incredible at the time of being fired? How are the ratings in that daypart now? Is that info available?

They were pretty gracious to KIRO and Bonneville in particular. They offered constructive criticism. Didn't really answer the question of why they were fired though.
