106.7 did not show until the late 70's, nearly 40 years after radio began in NYC.
Then again 106.7 was a jazz station, owned by the Riverside Church for the first 15 years of its existence. Sonderling bought it in 1975, and kept it jazz. They were bought by Westinghouse in 1978, and they flipped it to country in 1980.

I think we can say Lite-FM has usually been among the highest rated stations in NYC for 20 years. In the last 10 years, it's been consistently #1, as well as tops in the 25-54 demo and the women 25-54 demo.
