Going strictly by on-air personalities listed on station websites, nobody is missing from WROR, WBZ (Sports Hub), WKLB, WBQT (Hot 96.9) or WBOS. Of course, that does not account for anything happening with off-air people.
Furloughed employees are not considered laid off. They are still on a company's payroll with zero hours worked and leave status.
The press release didn't say "furloughed"...it said their jobs were "eliminated".
The company announced that 67 positions across the company have been eliminated.
Semantics? Maybe.....
It also says what it reads : 18 full-timers and an unspecified number of part-timers are being furloughed.
Just pointing out there are 2 situations here...jobs being furloughed...and jobs being eliminated.
But still, 67 positions eliminated??
BTW the way the gov't $2 trillion bailout works is companies qualify by keeping employees. They can apply for a debt-free loan if they don't fire people. So that's why you see Beasley and iHeart furloughing staff rather than simply firing them.
Good point, it's all in the spin! They say it's positions, not people, right?
They say it's positions, not people, right?
To clear up some confusion...
Furlough - Stops receiving a paycheck, but keeps full benefits and could be reinstated with paycheck at any time.
Eliminations - Active workers sent packing with a severance.
All of the Beasley Boston eliminations were support staff - Sales, Traffic, Promotions.
What a shame.
Under CARES act, furloughed employees will receive unemployment benefits up to 4 months at their full salary.
