Who is already missing sports on TV?

I checked to see what NBC will run in place of the Kentucky Derby, and it will be the Kentucky Derby. Not really interested if I know the outcome. Although I've done it before, seeing as how I record everything. My TiVo was so full I was watching some parts live and then seeing the coverage of what I already knew was going to happen.

Last year's Derby was incredible, and hopefully they'll do it the way CBS did the Masters, with fresh post-race commentary.

Further analysis of the disqualification and its aftermath would certainly add to the telecast. Of course, the owners of Maximum Security appealed again and again to get the result reversed, unsuccessfully, and probably won't be willing to revisit the event for the benefit of TV a year later.

Its from 2015 with American Pharaoh....also a simulated Derby

The 141st running of the famed horse race featuring horse American Pharoah. From May 2, 2015. Plus, "The Kentucky Derby: Triple Crown Showdown" will showcase 13 former Triple Crown winners competing in a computer-simulated race.

Pharoah's Derby? Why not his Belmont, which is what made him so special? Or is that the plan for Belmont day, in June?

I could see auto racing being (pardon the pun) re-started for TV. The drivers are already isolated. Pit Crews workflow would have to change though.

In the case of NASCAR, I believe that without fans buying tickets for seats, the margins are still too slim to only do TV for any length of a season.

This is one sporting event that will likely not be held again until a vaccine is found and distributed. Asking hundreds of kids to do nothing but play baseball and live in isolation when they're not for a week or more would be unrealistic; having them do so without relatives and friends around to cheer them on is unrealistic and cruel. I'm surprised the call wasn't made earlier, seeing as how it has been obvious that there will be no "normal" youth baseball season in the U.S. this year, thus no way to determine who plays in the LLWS.

Tegna's Texas outlets to air Esports

A budding esports rivalry will get a Texas-sized jolt of energy this month as the Dallas Fuel and the Houston Outlaws, two professional esports teams competing in the Overwatch League, collaborate to launch a first-of-its-kind esports skills and team competition series on television stations throughout Texas.

The Lone Star Showdown presented by Samsung will feature three weeks of Dallas vs. Houston challenges to determine who are the best esports players in Texas and crown either the Dallas Fuel or Houston Outlaws as the top Overwatch team in the state.

Tegna Inc., which owns television stations in 12 top markets in Texas covering 87% of the state, including WFAA Dallas and KHOU Houston, will broadcast a weekly docuseries of original episodes chronicling the competition.

The LLWS has been canceled this year.
