105.3 THE BEAT ???

Whats the chances iHeart adds local jocks? Highly doubt it but for a market like ATL and Urban going on a bigger stick those VT shows dont stand a chance to Hot 107.9, V103 and Streetz 94.5.

This is if the writings on the wall is true.

From my research the station is gonna be called REAL 105.3, not 105.3 the beat.

That Instagram page could have been made by anyone. I don't see any indications based on domains registered by iHeart. WGST or 96.7 are the only signs of whats next for 105.3.... for now.

I've never been a fan of hardcore hip-hop and never will be, but Urban Contemporary has the potential to do reasonably well on this signal. The 105.3 stick is not the right signal to attempt Soft AC or Variety Hits.

What is airing on 96.7 MHz right now?

iHeart's new use of the 105.7 and 105.3 is much smarter than how they were used before. The 105.7 signal covers the highest-density Latino areas of the market while 105.3 is more of a south side signal but is strong at least to Sandy Springs, making it a good signal for Urban. The Urban/Hip-Hop format is a better fit for the target audience than a WGST-FM would have been, since News/Talk is a little more of a north side format.

That said, there was already sooo much Urban in this market. 105.3 The Beat is aimed directly at Hot 107-9 and Streetz 94.5, and to a lesser extent toward V-103. Streetz is an FM translator although with a good signal from a centralized location. 105.3 has a somewhat better signal than Hot, and Hot is in a slightly weakened state because the station let go 2 of its high-profile personalities due to a decrease in revenue during the pandemic. But of course Hot does have Rickey Smiley, which is a top morning show.

I'm guessing 105.3 will have at least 1 live, local jock so the station can do remotes.

Having Urban on 96.7 was a waste; that signal barely gets into Atlanta. If iHeart was going to do the format, they might as well do it on a signal from which they can make money. I suppose 96.7 will become a 105.7 simulcast, but that signal is pretty much useless.

Such amazing news that WE NOW HAVE 10 SIGNALS with an Urban format,,,smdh.

Must Have Flipped A Coin On That One

I predict that at some point in time ALL Atlanta radio will be HipHop/Urban.

Roddy what I like about this is that The Beat now picks up a (now) pretty diverse Cobb County. It’s not going to dominate, or even go head to head, against V but can battle for P2 in 3/4 of the metro with Hot. Neither being strong in Gwinnett is both stations’ weakness.

Having The Breakfast Club gives commuters a viable info-tainment option that was hard to pickup outside SW Atlanta before too.

Well they are only about 15-20 years late on the flip. However it was only done for The Breakfast Club to be honest. 1 local jock wont dent HOT, V103 nor STREETZ 94.5

I can't find the like button.

96.7 Sounds like Vietnamese to me.

I was on PIB and the seek button didn't stop on 105.3.
CC has made mistakes before. Remember when WGST went Hispanic for 6 months?
