English music on 105.3

I really don’t listen to music in English and not very familiar with artists.

I recognized Lady Gaga and some other hip hop songs.

Appears to be a Rhythmic CHR. I haven't heard any sort of announcements or ID. Would be surprised if this was the ultimate format as you can get the same music on numerous other stations in the market.

K287BQ is still obliterating KTWL in Cy-Fair. While I am no fan of Roy Henderson and his past antics, I almost feel sorry that he has to deal with this translator pest.

Sounds like CHR, but only from the past 20 years. Nothing current. Most recent song I heard was from 2017. Two horrible decades of pop all on one station.

Very strong signal in Katy area, especially Cinco Ranch. Any idea on which station I'm hearing?

FWIW, after reading these posts, I called a long-time friend of mine that lives down on Lake Conroe. He was surprised to not hear country formatted "Texas Mix", and in its place was this Rhythmic fare. For reference, he is located near SH 105 @ Walden Rd. Steady, moderate reception. About what he says that he typically gets from KTWL. Are you guys sure this isn't a combination of both KTWL and K287BQ signals? If you will recall the station's history, it would not be the first time that Henderson has sold the time to another party on this particular facility.

What is the 105.3 translator's originating station broadcasting?

KTWL is still broadcasting the Texas Mix format -- from my location in South Montgomery County, I am getting hip-hop from K287BQ, and occasional reception of Texas Mix from KTWL.

KTBZ-FM.

tb, you have the best advantage in successfully lodging a complaint against the translator due to your location. The translator should reach nowhere near where you are. I would contact Roy Henderson and offer to certify a letter stating the interference you are experiencing. (979) 836-9411 will get you to KLTR in Brenham, the station his daughter runs, if you wish to begin the process.

I think it’s a pirate radio station. No IDs and I’ve noticed it’s the same rotation. At 3 am on Wednesday I heard it play a lady Gaga song, then after that it played like 2 seconds of another Gaga song then changed to yet another Lady Gaga song. They mostly play early 2010s and late 2000s with very few recent songs. They’re all popular songs. I’ve heard it from the back of The Woodlands to 99 and through Conroe on 45 before KTWL takes over. They do play clean versions of songs but I have heard the b word and d word. There’s only 1 song I haven’t recognized, they play really generic music.

Rather doubt it's a pirate. More likely the translator running excess power with an omnidirectional antenna. Clean audio, similar signal to 104.5.

Listened for a while this morning on the way to work. Seems to be mostly female artists. Only heard one quick insert with "105-3."

Yeah it seems too powerful to be pirate. I’ve heard it in stagecoach and in Willis and someone said it sounds clear in Katy. The audio is clean and it is a lot of female artists. A lot of Rihanna, Lady Gaga, and Katy Perry. It’s the same rotation of songs though. They also have these terrible mash ups that remind me of YouTube rewind. I have not heard them saying 105-3 though.

It's the translator running with excessive power. Nobody can hear the translator underneath the pop music, so yeah it's not a pirate.

Pirates can be pretty powerful too, as I heard one in San Antonio playing rock and classic rock from the NW side of town covering all the way to 281/1604 in the center of town with a rather weak signal. The unlicensed station in question used to come on at random times and kept switching channels. Probably someone with extra equipment just having fun.

That was RPM Radio back like 15 years ago

Nope it wasn't. This one I first noticed in 2014 and last heard in 2019 before I moved out of town. No liners or imaging but I did hear songs from Fleetwood Mac, Neil Young, Rush, even Nickelback and The Offspring. They had expensive audio equipment, I could tell, and a powerful signal as I previously mentioned coming from the Northwest side of San Antonio near Prue Rd & Babcock Rd I believe.
