English music on 105.3

How long will it last before they get a primary station? 2 more years? LOL they should at least add some crossfading into their player.

You're right, MrTejano. I know there are some advanced media players on both platforms, of course Centro isn't going to use them. Haha

Of course, even an LPFM is more probably going to use some kind of professional broadcast gear and software for program management. When just the audio processing of a "good" FM can be close to $20,000 and the more limited digital versions well into the four figure range, nobody is going to use a tablet or smartphone as the key device... although many of us have used laptops and portable devices for last minute actions.

A good example would be using a portable device to alter a playlist if a notable artist passes from the Covidvirus. But in such a case, we are "talking" to a real computer system, generally quite redundant, at the studio / master control location.

They sure seem to get the most out of those 99 watts on 104.5, 105.3 and 92.5, I tell ya! These stations don't start to fade out until you get to the Sealy, TX area. 104.5 definitely can go further out than Univision's KAMA. There are still traces of K283CH on 104.5 when KBUK starts taking over the 104.9 frequency.

I'm shocked the big radio operators haven't called foul. I guess it just goes to show you how little of a threath they are to Estrella or Univision.

I once read about a translator on 102.3 in San Antonio using a 1000 watt transmitter on a 4 bay antenna, when in reality it's still licensed for 99 watts.

No one has tried to call fowl or called fowl except a smaller class A station who didn't like the high-powered translator's interference to the class A 102.3. But I'm not sure if the small station was able to make the translator follow the rules... Doubt it.
