They preempted that for this?

Both of Fox’s baseball games got cancelled tonight (Phillies at Nats and. A’s at Rangers) so will be interesting to see what the network airs in baseball’s place tonight.

WJZY went with their regularly scheduled TMZ and Big Bang Theory at 7 and 7:30. I thought they might go with TMZ Live, which normally airs at 2, because they had already aired those shows at 2 and 2:30 (in reverse order, what they have done on Thursdays when they have sporting events).

The network went with back to back MasterChefs at 8 and 9.

WTOV NBC 9 in Steubenville, OH/Wheeling, WV had quite the situation tonight. They aired a local high school football game under Sinclair's "Thursday Night Lights" moniker, scheduled from 7:00-9:30 PM Eastern, which would pre-empt Jeopardy!, Wheel of Fortune, The Wall, and Law & Order: SVU. By their original schedule, Jeopardy! was moved to 9:30 (game time permitting), The Wall was bumped to 2:06 AM (replacing the encore of Hoda & Jenna), L&O: SVU to 3:06 (replacing Just for Laughs Gags and part of Early Today), and Wheel was gone entirely.

Just as the third quarter was about to start, the game was stopped due to lightning and a downpour. According to high school football rules, when lightning is spotted, 30 minutes must pass before play can resume. If another flash of lightning happens during that time, the "countdown" is reset to another 30 minutes. WTOV filled the delay by airing Jeopardy! at about 8:25. The game was still on pause, so Wheel of Fortune ended up airing after all, at around 8:55. WTOV returned to the field afterwards, and showed various highlights from other Sinclair "Thursday Night Lights" games until it was safe for the game to resume.

WTOV continued to air the game past 10:00, which meant pre-empting the RNC. Because of this, WTOV-DT2 FOX ended up carrying RNC coverage (in place of local news) even though they did not originally plan to. FOX was also scheduled to re-air the football game from 11:00 PM-1:30 AM. The game did not end until around 10:47 PM, over an hour later than scheduled thanks to the weather delay, and NBC's coverage of the RNC was JIP'd at 10:50.

Last night ABC’s RNC coverage ran over about 20 minutes. I know because I recorded The Goldbergs at 2:07 am on WSOC (delayed due to the Panthers Fan Fest special) and it got part of the season finale of United We Fall. Luckily I had thought to record World News Tonight thinking RNC coverage might go past 11 so I was able to catch the last 20 minutes of the episode. And even if I hadn’t, no biggie, it was a rerun that I could have watched on Hulu or ABC on Demand anyway.

What a mess! I know all about that 30 minute lightning rule, we have it in North Carolina too. At least you’re getting to play this fall in Ohio, in NC we are having a 7-game season starting in February. Some D1 football commits are opting out. All the sport seasons got shortened and moved around. And no indoor track. Nothing’s starting before November.

Not my market, but Sinclair’s WMYA out of Asheville has had Thursday night games as well featuring mostly teams from the North Carolina mountains.

The final night of RNC ran all the way to 11:44 ET on ABC. Possibly later on other networks. WNYW, which did air it even though the guide still had the local news, did not begin the first of two Big Bang Theorys until 11:55 (delayed from 11:00).

I'm glad I recorded both episodes from WXLV. They were really good. I hadn't gotten around to watching "The Goldbergs" from when it was on the first time.

most outdoor sports have that rule. MLB, NCAA, NFL and NASCAR for sure utilize it (lightning within 10 miles of stadium) but lots of states do it for HS sports

yesterday was a weird one in Minneapolis

Both KMSP FOX and WFTC FOX9+ (formerly My) showed the MLB games in the guide. They were postponed but they decided to flip the programming. So WFTC FOX9+ showed Masterchef from 7-9 then went to their normal syndicated programming of Big Bang Theory.
KMSP showed news until 7 (like normal) but instead of moving over to FOX9+ (like they normally do) they stayed on FOX with news from 7-8 then showed 2 Modern Family episodes (which normally is on FOX9+)

I forgot to mention this yesterday but WKRC aired a Bengals game last night. It was a old one because preseason is cancelled.

I actually don't know what happened with CBS programing last night.

Nothing on NBC?

So there was a Bruins-Lightning playoff game listed in my program guide, but I've had a black screen for several minutes now. Did we have another protest walkout or something? The game shouldn't be blacked out in Nashville, which is where I'm watching.

It's being played, but the Bruins have barely shown up. 3-0 Lightning after 2. Looks like your cable company is having problems.

boxing again tonight on FOX...scheduled for 7-9 CDT

lets see how much over it will be tonight ;)

I wonder if it might end on time if the main event ends in a quick knockout. If that had been the case last week, they would have been stuck with more than 50 minutes to fill until the top of the next hour. And what if the top prelim -- which goes on as the opening match on the telecast -- were to end early as well? Then there would be no choice but to end the show after two hours, unless Fox had a couple of recorded undercard bouts to use as filler.

One more Panthers replay on WSOC tonight...it’s the Thanksgiving Game at Dallas...ABC programming will air beginning tonight at 12:05am.

What's the current status on Tuesday's NBA playoff game on ABC? Is it still on? WABC still has it listed on Xfinity, but Titan has Modern Family/Modern Family/black-ish/mixed-ish/What Would You Do? listed for primetime. KABC on Titan replaced the game with "To Be Announced", and still has its local postgame show Slam Dunk at 8, local news at 9, and Jeopardy!/Wheel at 10.

A little over an hour again. Main event didn't look like it started until a little after 10 ET when it should've "ended". They signed off around 11:02 and newscasts started around 11:05.

Over on NBC, the NASCAR race itself actually finished around 10:30 ET despite the time slot being until 11:00.

Three straight shows now. Why doesn't Fox end the charade and just slot the show for 8-11 or 8-10:30 Eastern? Compared to ESPN's Top Rank cards, there seems to be far more filler (profiles, career highlights, interviews, previews/analysis, hype for future events) in these PBC productions. Since each show usually consists of two 10- or 12-round fights, with a shorter bout between them, couldn't some of the filler be eliminated to ensure at least a 10:30 finish and get the affiliates into their local news when the viewers want to see it?

technically it was 10:04 CDT when "Labor of Love" started (for affiliates who did not/do not show news)

race ran a little quicker than I thought...also them starting the race at 5 after the hour instead of 25 after helped :)
