Eye opener: How did KTCK go from a 1.4 to a 3.5?

And where did all of KKDA-FM's listeners go? I don't see a corresponding increase in stations with similar formats.
KVIL's numbers with Alternative are horrible for a Cedar Hill signal.
I'd like to recommend that Radio Insight site for ratings data. They do the best job on lengthy trending data, accurate format descriptions and ownership attributions of any of the alternatives.
Plus the operators of the site, including Scott, Chris, Sean and Lance are just good folks!

KVIL-FM scored its worst overall AQH share since - get this - 1970!!!!
David Field was flapping his gums about how wonderful of a job Entercom does researching formats, programming, etc. around the time the merger with CBS Radio closed. Obviously, Entercom's research capabilities have some serious shortcomings in certain areas.
Alternative was a dying format (locally) when 102.1 dumped it. Flipping 103.7 to that format was a horrible move. 102.1, meanwhile, seems to be doing rather decently with Adult Contemporary!
I've also noticed plenty of Rhythmic CHR, Urban stations, and some CHR/Pop stations with unusually weak numbers this survey. What's up with that?
Looks like a decent number of people sample Alt 103.7, but nobody listens very long.
I'm not sure DFW needs a second AC as Star isn’t setting the world on fire. It’s about where KVIL was when it flipped to “Amp.” I suppose it might be able to draw listeners away from KLTY, too, but it seems equally likely to draw a few women from KLUV.
I'd probably take KVIL back in a CHR direction or take it country if the decision were mine. Of course, if I had the answer to these problems, I'd probably still be working in radio!
Flip Alt 103.7 to Soft AC. Call it “103.7 KVIL.” Rehash the old KVIL jingles from JAM and TM.
Don't think a KVIL throwback would work half a century later.
i say, screw it, move The Fan to 103.7 with either new calls or the KVIL calls and just turn 105.3 into a FM home for 1080 KRLD. bet KVIL would love to have Cowboys games again like the old days and have a better coverage of KRLD at nighttime in places where the night signals sucks and not need to be online to listen to KRLD.

The thing that stands out to me about KVIL is they're cuming almost a half million people. Same with KLIF, KRLD, and KRNB. That's pretty good for a 1.3 share.
while it might not be a sales metric, you already had the customer in the door, and, with high cume, you just had to convince the customer to buy more. With TSL, you might be able to make someone who only wanted to buy from 8 AM to 5 PM buy a little more by requiring buys in six hour blocks or something similar, but you could only slice the pie so much. You eventually had to actually go out and find new customers, which is always harder than getting someone who already wants to buy to expand their purchase.
