Congratulations on your nice catch! I'm guessing they were on 10kw day pattern, judging from the Radio-Locator maps.

Had KSEN here in Ellensburg WA. Easy S9+10 signal, test tone and sweeps over KKNW. Not new, heard many times before.

Apparently KSEN was on with DX test the night before (11/7), but all I could hear was WHBY. No sign of them.

Last night (11/7) they were easily heard thanks to the Morse Code and test tones cutting through WHBY and WIMA.

Montana number 3 heard on the AM band.

KSEN had a major technical problem Friday night. We found out Saturday afternoon that in the process of the automated day to night pattern switch, the array got all hosed up, stuck somewhere unknown in the middle running gosh only knows what pattern and that also caused power to drop.. 280 watts forward and 190 watts reflected. Thats why only Bruce in Seattle and Bjarne Melde in Norway heard it on Friday night!!

Hmm. Does that mean that the test actually saved them from having a problem during regular hours?

We ought to suggest to stations that a test can be used to test all kinds of not usually checked things all at one time while giving a chance to DXers to log them!

Maybe get a testimonial from engineers who tested for NRC / IRCA that the test was a good way to check everything out all at once.

In a way, yes.... when the DX test wasnt being heard worth a hill o'beans past midnight Friday into Saturday morning, the engineer checked and saw there was a problem...... if there had been no dx test, he wouldn't have noticed right away. Someone would've picked up on it in shorter order, most likely over the weekend or early in the next week.

KSEN did just finish up repairs on their night array after things got damaged awhile back

CFYM 1210 Kindersley, Saskatchewan. 250 Watts at 1840 miles.
1042pm AK Time (McGrath, Alaska, 230 miles Northwest of Anchorage)

Golden West Broadcasting’s corporate engineer Luverne Siemens confirms my reception of CFYM 1210. He checked the local locally at the station since there’s a gap in the online recently played log.

Here's the audio of Bob Dylan's "Like A Rolling Stone"

My father used to play with his guitar band on WREO, as in Ransom E. Olds, and the original REO Speedwagon, 1300? in Lansing, MI back in the 1920s. It was 500 watts Daytime and Nighttime, and they used to get fan mail/reception reports from Montana! He stopped doing the radio gigs when he got a raise at his "Daytime job".

Today I heard a Cuban station that has not been common in the Chicago area. Actually I heard them for the first time. Radio Artemisa, La Salud, Cuba on 770 kHz several mentions of Radio Artemisa at 8:45 pm CST.

Nice catch! That one is tough enough in Pensacola.....without having WBBM in your "back yard".

KGYN 1210 Guymon, OK made the 2900 mile trip to McGrath, Alaska on Friday November 20th, 2020 at 849pm AK Time (2 hours behind central time). I was using a CC Skywave portable radio and a Gary DeBock 5" FSL Loop

Here's the audio of Dave Scott's weather forecast:

Here's a bit more of KGYN about 30 minutes later and its even clearer:

Fairly good conditions tonight:

660 KTNN over/under WFAN with country music and ID at 10:00 pm CST. Some WSCR splatter present
940 CJGX blasting with country music at 10:12 pm CST
1040 CKST under WHO with ESPN sports. "TSN 10-40" slogan at 10:42 pm CST

KGYN definitely gets around. I first heard them in San Diego, then a few other places along the (mainland) west coast. Then here at my home location several times. And now they're turning up in Alaska. Perhaps a little "hamburger helper" going on there at night in Oklahoma....LOL
