November ratings are here

November numbers: https://ratings.****************/content/arb033

KTRH on top. Election runup and aftermath.

KSBJ breaks into the sixes.

KMJQ continues to slip, but probably within normal wobble.

The Bull surges ahead of 93Q.

What's going on with KLOL as well as KQBT? You would think they'd have done better, but perhaps are okay in target demos.

La Raza sinks into the ones. Gotta wonder if being squeezed by first adjacent translators is running off audience in the SW part of the market.

Our favorite dumpster fire, KROI, continues to wobble in the zeroes. We await the new tower and a possible flip.

Classical and Urban Gospel still show a pulse on HD-2 channels.

The deficiencies of the 92.1 signal have been well documented here, but... the coverage is better than a .8. While it has a lower ratings ceiling than the stronger Missouri City signals or 107.5 or 106.9, the current .8 is a programming problem.

Does anyone remember what the all-time highest share it received when it was Boom?

KROI cracked into the low threes during the early days of Boom 92.1. The format was a flavor of the month, and steadily lost ground. But IIRC at the end it was still doing better than the current CHR format ever has.

KROI also made it into the low threes a few times during the Praise era, but the audience was way too old.

Any future format on KROI has to be something unique to the market that will hold an audience despite the deficient signal. That, or a simulcast of one of the AM SportsTalkers. Or just sell to EMF or another religious broadcaster that doesn't care about the ratings, just donations.

Interesting this happens in the first full month after the staff changes, with mid-days now emanating from NYC, and evenings from Detroit.

Even more interesting... they had one very big week, and three very low ones. Overall, the data for this second full month of the change (remember, the "months" at this time of the year are 3 weeks from the prior month and one from the named month). The first 4 separate weeks were off considerably, and the ongoing ones are off except for one week.

The changes were made in the second week of September.

Even before the virus, HOU had sample issues, and had lost accreditation. Normally, a panel is 100% identical to the group being sampled on every stratification variable. Today, they are way off and when the Per Person Meter Value is high to begin with, an unbalanced sample is mortal.

Which week? Let's see if there was a particular event that helped.

Other than the death of a current big-name performer -- which I don't recall happening in this rating period -- what sort of "event" would cause a one-week surge in listening to a CHR? A contest giving away tons of money?

The Bull is Country, not CHR.

Week two was exceptionally high.

That was the week the Houston Astros played the Tampa Bay Rays in the AL Championship. Tampa ended up winning. But the station did a lot of promo for the games that week. Also an AFC South matchup on the 18th between Houston and Tennessee in Houston, and the game was broadcast on KILT.

Anyone notice KFNC? I don't remember them ever being this low before. I guess the addition of that 92.5 translator really did the trick, huh?

Sorry, I must have lost track of which station was being referred to. I thought the one-week surge was at KROI. But still, why would baseball or football cause a surge in listening to a country station unless the station itself was carrying the games?

Capitalizing on a local event, in terms of promotion and contesting. Plus the station simulcasts the football game with the co-owned all-sports station. This is evident from the station's very active social media feeds. There is a close association between country music and sports.

This was at a time when mid-days and evenings were coming from other cities.

The day by day does not indicate enough of a game-day spike to affect the total week. The bubble was actually on weekdays.

KBXX that swag trap crap is not working change the format to 80s to early 2000s rap

KBXX is tied with KLTN for the #6 highest billing in the market. It is just a little below the #5 and #4 (sister KMJQ) stations, too.. It is not going to change format.

We get that you do not like it, but it is one of the most successful and profitable stations in Houston.

Looking at 98.5 Dropping under a 2 share in a while i would wonder where those listeners went because i would assume that demo does not move over to general market radio.
