no worries. I did respond to your post about moving the CBS game up and apparently according to the contract it has to be at 2:30 CST (3:30 EST)
WTHR NBC 13 in Indianapolis accidentally aired Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy! in the opposite order tonight. They acknowledged it on social media around 7:10 and assured both shows would air.
I'm guessing this is because in previous years, WTHR would air the "Circle in Lights Parade" on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving at 7:30, moving Jeopardy! to 7:00 and moving Wheel to 7:30 on 13.3 MeTV, so J! had already been programmed for 7:00 without someone realizing there'd be no parade this year.
Several locally-broadcast tree lightings and parades have been cancelled for obvious reasons (including the Faneuil Hall tree lighting that's broadcast every year on WBZ CBS 4 in Boston), but some like the Rockefeller Center Tree lighting (which the O&O's and some other affiliates opt to start at 7 ET/PT instead of 8) are still on. Last Friday, WTOV NBC 9 in Steubenville, OH/Wheeling, WV re-aired the previous year's local parade.

Have any of the networks announced their New Year's Eve plans yet? I assume no one will be allowed in Times Square to watch the ball drop, so what will viewers get? Musical acts performing in empty studios with dubbed-in crowd noise? Virtual concerts patched together from live performances from years past? Normal Thursday late night programming?
Ouch. Far too late to plug in another game, I assume. Hope the affiliates have a backlog of infomercials to run in its place!
I assume NBC will backfill with something. Maybe a classic game.
Leaving us with a couple of games that can only be described as turkeys. The Texans, Cowboys, and (alleged) Football Team are 3-7, while the Lions are 4-6. Talk about America's Games of the Weak!

ABC will start at 8 ET/PT as usual, FOX at 11:00, and NBC at 11:30. No word on CBS, although Vegas affiliate KLAS is airing a telethon starting at 10:30 https://bestoflasvegas.com/article/its-zowie-bowie-circa-and-cbs-for-new-years-eve.html.
Whenever the networks schedule a live event, such as sports, awards shows, etc. there is always backup programming ready to go should the live event be cancelled or technical problems scuttle the broadcast. Affiliates are advised of the potential alternate programming well in advance.

What happens to the affiliates who sold the local breaks tonight to advertisers looking for a prime NFL matchup audience -- huge, largely male -- but got a dog show rerun audience -- smaller, largely female -- instead? Do those advertisers get a make-good in the form of free spots on Sunday afternoon's game? I assume the local breaks didn't sell out for the skiing.
Most likely. Depends on what their contract said. Some buy "pre-emptable" spots. If they did, they're SOL.
