How much local programming does KHVN have now? I saw an STA request a few month ago asking to essentially be a daytimer due to COVID. If it's back to 24 hour operation, I'd have to think it would be running automated programming during the evening and overnight hours if it weren’t already.
I've been trying to find the answer to Mediafrog's question regarding the expanded band license and whether the two are still companions. I haven’t found the exact answer, but it seems to be a system similar to Entercom's situation in KC with KYYS 1250 and KWOD 1660. The FCC seems to allow them to operate in perpetuity, and several STA's were filed in the past to permit continued operation of both, but I can't find a specific rule or statute to grant them continuous operation. In the case of KYYS/KWOD, it looks like they’re still treated as companions, though Entercom had to get a waiver to own both after the CBS deal since it would otherwise be over the station ownership cap in KC. I remember hearing a law was passed to basically target 1530/1660 in Elizabeth, NJ and 1190/1640 in Vallejo, CA that said stations that were the only stations licensed to a city with 100,000 or more people could keep both licenses, but, unless that was changed, it wouldn’t apply to Ft. Worth.
