iHeart Buys Two in D/FW...

How much local programming does KHVN have now? I saw an STA request a few month ago asking to essentially be a daytimer due to COVID. If it's back to 24 hour operation, I'd have to think it would be running automated programming during the evening and overnight hours if it weren’t already.

I've been trying to find the answer to Mediafrog's question regarding the expanded band license and whether the two are still companions. I haven’t found the exact answer, but it seems to be a system similar to Entercom's situation in KC with KYYS 1250 and KWOD 1660. The FCC seems to allow them to operate in perpetuity, and several STA's were filed in the past to permit continued operation of both, but I can't find a specific rule or statute to grant them continuous operation. In the case of KYYS/KWOD, it looks like they’re still treated as companions, though Entercom had to get a waiver to own both after the CBS deal since it would otherwise be over the station ownership cap in KC. I remember hearing a law was passed to basically target 1530/1660 in Elizabeth, NJ and 1190/1640 in Vallejo, CA that said stations that were the only stations licensed to a city with 100,000 or more people could keep both licenses, but, unless that was changed, it wouldn’t apply to Ft. Worth.

As far as I know, the only syndicated shows are the morning show and the evening show. Not sure about Marvin Sapp since he lives and pastors a church here in Ft. Worth.

Marvin Sapp is syndicated.

Anybody heard anything else about this transaction?

Have you guys heard audio on 95.3? Last I heard 95.3 was just transmitting silence.

Anybody heard anything else about this transaction?
Salem, they are talking about it on KHVN... sort of... Robert Ashley is on, but they are having so many issues: people calling and can't even hear him, so he has to go to another caller, and even worse, they just had to evacuate the building because the fire alarm continues to go off which is heard in the background.

Okay, they're back on, and the way Robert Ashley is talking, they are gone....

Man if that is true, it will be a big blow in the local gospel community. Will KGGR be able to pick up the slack?

Unless KGGR change up their programming, I would say no. They're majority preaching and teaching. Not too much Gospel music.

I believe iHeart is going to put their "Hallelujah" Gospel format on 970. Voicetracking saves money...

that may be the case and put BIN on 1630 and the other FM translators.

KGGR could add music after they sign off for the night via their app. It’s all up in the air. We just have wait and see.

Update: I'm listening to Heaven 97, and each show that comes on, they are making their announcements: next week will be their last show, and "Heaven 97 is going away".
