Post your latest DX

Yesterday was a pretty good day as far as DXing was concerned.......
I noticed that on some channels, the regulars were stronger than usual. Most notable for me was CJOB being especially good breaking through WSCR splatter. OTOH, I expected more on 1160, but it sounds like you found all the stuff I was missing! All in all, I was rather pleased with the two new ones I snagged....especially KICK from Springfield, MO on 1340.

I'm surprised at what I hear on the Brownsville, Texas SDR just after 10 pm their time on 770.

KKOB is there with a slightly weaker KAAM and no trace of WABC.

I didn't think the signal of KKOB made it that far east and that strong.
Interesting. Here in Houston, 770 is all KAAM and sometimes XEACH, with KKOB rarely heard. I'll try to check this frequency tonight.

I find with WKVI that once I drive south of the downtown buildings, it starts to come in albeit quite faintly.

I guess the proximity to the lake makes a difference. Yesterday the conditions must have been quite good to hear them all the way inland. I also have WCKG on 1530 nearby (about 6 miles away) that complicates things a bit. WKVI was one of my closest unheard stations.

Your Spanish speaking station on 1030 was most likely WNOW Mint Hill, NC. Noted them earlier in the day with quite good signal. Also heard them several time in the past week or so mixing with WBZ.

Yesterday was a pretty good day as far as DXing was concerned. First had a new log in the form of WKNG on 1060 with "King Country" slogans and country music. Then the WENR test was heard quite easily. After hearing the DX test I decided to check out all the Chicago blowtorches just in case somebody was off the air before I went to bed. Was rewarded with WYLL being off the air so I decided to stick around for couple hours. Heard couple new ones on 1160: KCTO Cleveland, MO with Mexican music and WCVX Florence, KY with Christian Talk. KSL was fading in and out. There were couple other stations in the mix, but could not ID them. Finally earlier in the day while driving around at 1 pm CST I tuned to 1520 and heard a station that I have not logged before. WKVI Knox, IN with death notices and local programming. First I thought it was WLUV, which is common during daytime. WKVI is about 83 miles from my location, but somehow I never logged them.
WNOW makes sense. Got them last week. As always, was hoping for something new! Thanks.

Two in quick succession early Thursday in the southwest suburbs of Chicago, thanks to tips on the DX World BCB site:

12:06 a.m. CT – 870 Radio Reloj, Cuba, from one of two sites with listed 10 kw. Distinctive time clicks and minute beeps under WWL. New.

12:17 a.m. CT – 860 WTZX Sparta, Tenn., apparently on 1 kw day power with clear "Country Gold 860" ID and music at listenable level with CJBC Toronto nulled. New. A BCB site poster noted KNUJ New Ulm, Minn. on day power, but WTZX turned up in my search instead.

Caught on both the Sony ICF-2010 and Sony SRF-A100, with and without a Tecsun AN-200 loop (which helped WTZX more).

Nice catches. I've heard R.Reloj a few times on 870 at my home location in Crystal Lake, but not recently.

I've also been spending some time recently on 860 with CJBC nulled. I keep coming up with WSON, which isn't all that unusual around here. But there also seems to be multiple signals underneath that I haven't been able to identify.

A couple mornings ago I heard KBGN, 1190 in LA, playing Korean programming, very loud behind KEX. Sunrise skip, Daylight Savings time kicking in, they probably just switched up their power. New station, heard it on just my Sangean PR-D5 (no loop). Usually I get the station in Regina behind KEXZ, with country music, or on rarer occasions the college station out of Boulder Colorado with eclectic stuff.

I was hearing KUYO loud and clear this AM in southeast Phoenix (~05:30 MST (not MDT)). Sounded like a local. It faded back down a few minutes ago, and is now inaudible. KLAA is at least faintly there instead.

From south Overland Park, Kansas:

Between 6:45 - 7:00am CDT this morning, I logged a clear and distinct KFI, Los Angeles on 640 kHz. This was right before WOI in Ames, IA went on daytime power and a non-directional pattern. While not my first log of KFI, this was strongest signal I have logged from the station in many years. There was "chatter" about the UCLA victory over Michigan State last night and followed by a weather forecast. I was listening in my car in a noise free parking lot before I met a client for breakfast.

Wow, Cool

Nice Catch

Nice! We used to be able to get KFI in the Chicago area, but not anymore because of WMFN which they squeezed into our area.

At 4 pm EDT on the central Jersey SDR, I heard WCTR from Chestertown, Maryland on 1530 briefly and then it faded out.

Apparently, a skywave can still happen in the afternoon even in the springtime.

New catch for me at just after 5:00 am CST this morning. WHP from Harrisburg, PA on 580. Local news headlines and positive ID. I'm presuming 5kw non-directional day power, since their night pattern is very directional to the southeast. Signal was fair, but on top of a channel that was relatively empty. Then faded after about three minutes. Radio was the C Crane skywave.

I had been hanging out on 580 for the last few mornings, trying for CFRA. As I said, 580 is fairly empty here. Some big signals on the channel, but I seem to be in the null for all of them. So, if something does manage to make it to my location, there's not much to block it. So far, no CFRA, but I did hear WIBW yesterday (3/22), which is not common here.

Nice. I've heard WIBW a couple of times, but not WHP. Nicely done!
