In Cedar Rapids Waterloo Iowa area the cw which currently airs on 7.2 will be switching to 9.3 on August 2nd 2021.
Me too, because if Nexstar hadn't renewed with the CW this year, then here's what that those markets could have looked like this...Im surprised the CW didnt change channels in LA, NY, Boston?
WLNY has no signal in Manhattan (or New Jersey) to speak of, so moving CW there would be a suicidal move among OTA viewers.

9.3 still shows antenna tv schedule on Monday and cw still on 7.2 but 9.3 still shows at the bottom of the screen that the cw is moving to 9.3 on august 2nd.
Denver too given that Nexstar owns KWGN-TV the CW affiliate as part of the duopoly with Fox 31. Also Im surprised that CBS didn't move the CW affiliation to KCNC-TV's subchannels like a 4.2 or and the main CBS feed will be on a 4.1Im surprised the CW didnt change channels in LA, NY, Boston?
I too find it a little bit surprising at this point in time that CBS didn't take The CW in-house, not only with NYC, LA, Dallas, but Boston and Miami as well.

As mentioned about. in May the CW signed a multi-year renewal with Nexstar that will cover most of those markets

I'm pretty sure they make a ton more money on WPIX than they would on a sub or CH55. That's pretty much the case with all of these stations. Digital subchannels aren't really showing up in the ratings yet. So it's better to stay on main channels with cable deals. Not all digi-channels get cable carriage. There are actual digi-nets (such as CBSN or Cheddar) that make more sense than putting a broadcast net such as the CW on a digi-channel. The budgeting is different.
Another idea would be (looking long term, beyond current deals) the more likely place for the CW is as part of Paramount+. All of the companies are looking for content for their subscription channels. The budgets might work better there than on digi-channels. That's what happened to the new scripted content that used to be on TBS. It moved to HBO+.
