CW switching affiliates again

I presume this is related to the Gray purchase of KWWL. Network shuffles often happen when Gray gets involved.

Im surprised the CW didnt change channels in LA, NY, Boston?
Me too, because if Nexstar hadn't renewed with the CW this year, then here's what that those markets could have looked like this...

2 - WCBS (CBS)
4 - WNBC (NBC)
5 - WNYW (Fox)
7 - WABC (ABC)
9 - WWOR (MyNetworkTV)
11 - WPIX (Independent)
55 - WLNY (The CW)
[NEW YORK]

2 - KCBS (CBS)
4 - KNBC (NBC)
5 - KTLA (Independent)
7 - KABC (ABC)
9 - KCAL (The CW)
11 - KTTV (Fox)
13 - KCOP (MyNetworkTV)
[LOS ANGELES]

4 - KDFW (Fox)
5 - KXAS (NBC)
8 - WFAA (ABC)
11 - KTVT (CBS)
21 - KTXA (The CW)
27 - KDFI (MyNetworkTV)
33 - KDAF (Independent)
[DALLAS/FORT WORTH]

2 - KPRC (NBC)
11 - KHOU (CBS)
13 - KTRK (ABC)
20 - KTXH (MyNetworkTV)
26 - KRIV (Fox)
39 - KIAH (Independent)
57 - KUBE (The CW)
[HOUSTON]

WLNY has no signal in Manhattan (or New Jersey) to speak of, so moving CW there would be a suicidal move among OTA viewers.

If that's the case, then it's rather surprising even still now that WLNY isn't at least simulcast on a WCBS subchannel. That would have remedied their signal issues, at least somewhat.

As far as the above scenario, I too find it a little bit surprising at this point in time that CBS didn't take The CW in-house, not only with NYC, LA, Dallas, but Boston and Miami as well.

9.3 still shows antenna tv schedule on Monday and cw still on 7.2 but 9.3 still shows at the bottom of the screen that the cw is moving to 9.3 on august 2nd.

What if and when WCBS fix WLNY's reception so everyone in the NYC metro area will be able to watch this channel OTA and plan to move the CW to Ch. 55.1?

That means it will go to KCRG 9.3 on August 2nd. It takes time for the schedules to show it, whether its TitanTV, OnTVTonight, TVPassport or anywhere else.

Denver too given that Nexstar owns KWGN-TV the CW affiliate as part of the duopoly with Fox 31. Also Im surprised that CBS didn't move the CW affiliation to KCNC-TV's subchannels like a 4.2 or and the main CBS feed will be on a 4.1

As mentioned about. in May the CW signed a multi-year renewal with Nexstar that will cover most of those markets

I'm pretty sure they make a ton more money on WPIX than they would on a sub or CH55. That's pretty much the case with all of these stations. Digital subchannels aren't really showing up in the ratings yet. So it's better to stay on main channels with cable deals. Not all digi-channels get cable carriage. There are actual digi-nets (such as CBSN or Cheddar) that make more sense than putting a broadcast net such as the CW on a digi-channel. The budgeting is different.

Another idea would be (looking long term, beyond current deals) the more likely place for the CW is as part of Paramount+. All of the companies are looking for content for their subscription channels. The budgets might work better there than on digi-channels. That's what happened to the new scripted content that used to be on TBS. It moved to HBO+.

Good point too! I can also see CW moving its content to Paramount+.

That's because KCNC is all alone in Denver now.

KMGH, KUSA and KDVR all have duopoly sister stations with KCNC being the lone holdout now. There's no way The CW will move to a digital sub in a Top 20 market. No way that's happening.

Also, there are already two Independents in the market (KCDO and KTVD, even though the latter is affiliated with MyNetworkTV but is really a pass-through programming service to just fill two hours of content with.). I don't think Denver is big enough for three Independent stations. Maybe New York and L.A. but not Denver.

Looks like H&I (Heroes and Icons) will be coming to 7.2. The CW is now on 9.3 as of 4am. But now it looks like 9.4 and 9.5 are dark as 9.4 was H&I and 9.5 was Start TV. No idea about 9.6 Circle as that one never did come in. Direct TV says tune to channel 10 for The CW but there is no channel 10 listed in the guide.
