As of yesterday, the iconic MTV turned 40 years old. However, I did not know of them doing anything to commemorate it. I know that for both their 30th and 35th anniversaries, they aired the original first hour of MTV. But I didn’t know of them doing anything this year. I remember on the 35th anniversary, that’s when Vh1 Classic became the ever-failing MTV Classic, which I literally haven’t checked in ages. Because it’s so stale, and last I heard, it was one of the least-watched cable channels, and I’m sure it still is. Did MTV do anything at all to commemorate the 40th anniversary? Maybe they will at least mention it at this year’s VMAs, the only music programming they currently have.
